Things get worse

It seemed obvious from the blush on Miles' face that any embarrassment he caused Gwen was unintentional and indeed, it looked as if he'd sooner arm-wrestle the Kingpin than intentionally do anything bad to her.

But that didn't help Gwen too much and it certainly did nothing to still the chorus of flashing camera phones being wielded by her fellow students.

Moreover, the harder Miles tried to remove the remnants of her torn blouse from his hand, the more it seemed to be disintegrating to the point that Gwen wondered if she would get back any piece of it large enough to use as a handkerchief.

As much as she wanted to just cover her upper torso and flee to the sanctuary of the nearest ladies' room, Gwen realized that she was going to have take some action if she wanted to have any chance of getting her blouse back in decent shape.

So she walked up to Miles with one arm covering her bra and tried to grab the blouse out of his hand.

Unfortunately, the blouse would no more yield to her hand than it did to Miles'. In fact, it seemed to be glued to his hand by something that looked like -- what? -- was that spider webbing?

She gave it one more tug, this time using her spider-strength, only to throw Miles off-balance. He stumbled forward and for a moment, looked as if he was about to fall, only to catch himself by placing a hand on Gwen's shoulder. He looked up guiltily into her eyes and immediately realized what he had done. But when he tried to withdraw his hand, it proved to be not only stuck to her skin but also her bra strap.

"Sorry, Gwanda," he said.

Gwanda? Gwen thought. Oh, right, the fake name she had given Miles earlier.

"Never mind," said Gwen. "Just try to ease your hand away. Gently but firmly."

For a while, it seemed like Gwen's plan was going to work. Once Miles relaxed, his two hands did not stick so much. Which meant that Gwen could get her blouse back and Miles could get his hand off her shoulder.

So, naturally, once Gwen's blouse came loose and Miles' hand was off her shoulder, Gwen's body decided to glitch. Which made her lose consciousness and start to fall.

To keep her from falling, Miles promptly grabbed her around the waist. Which now meant that both his hands were now on her skirt. And stuck there, to boot.
