Drusilla

A woman clad in a white dress that made her look like a refugee from a Jane Austen movie came out of the shadows and smiled at Buffy. It was not a pleasant smile.

"My, my, Buffy," said the woman. "I really did not expect to see you down here this time of day. And in a state of undress as well. I should have predicted that, but well you can't predict everything..."

She shrugged.

It's Drusilla, thought Buffy. What do I remember about Drusilla? She's Spike's girlfriend, natch, and she killed my fellow vampire slayer Kendra, and my god, I really need to stop looking at her eyes. Especially considering the way she's staring at me...

Wait! she thought.

Drusilla was staring at her. And in an odd way, that made Buffy feel funny.

Because Drusilla was not staring at Buffy the way other girls looked at Buffy when she undressed for gym class. She was staring at her the same way Xander might stare at her. Or Angel. Or --

Wait a minute, she thought. Is Drusilla checking me out?

"You need to stop covering yourself up, Buffy," said Drusilla. "We're both girls here and it's not like you're likely to have anything that I haven't seen on my own body back in the days when I could still see myself in a mirror. I know I'm Victorian but it should be obvious by now that I'm not that Victorian. And since you came down here of your own free will -- without an invitation, I might add -- I seem honorbound to make you pay for that. As well as for... other things."

Her face went vacant for a moment, then returned to its normal expression.

"Here you are, Buffy, naked before me, " she said. "And you don't even have a cross. Or a stake. Or anything. I should be touched. Too bad I have to kill you right now but I don't get opportunities like this every day."

Should I run for it or should I fight? thought Buffy.

She looked at the door and thought about all the prying eyes out there. Then at Drusilla who seemed to be positively drooling at the thought of killing yet another vampire slayer. If she only had a weapon.

Heck with it, she thought. I'll fight Drusilla another day.

And she then ran toward the door through which she first entered the basement. Only to stop when she saw yet another familiar figure standing there -- and blocking the only exit not blocked by Drusilla.

"I really would not try to leave right now if I were you, luv," said the figure. "You're only likely to make Dru angry -- and trust me, you wouldn't like her when she's angry."
