Not so fast.

The night goes slowly. The crowd is down on normal and there isn’t a whole lot to keep me entertained. We start to think about knocking a few guys off early.

I do a quick walk through the venue just to make sure there doesn’t look like there’s going to be any issues. I’m just making my rounds when I waved over by Stephen, the bartender I’d given the little baggie to earlier. He’s sweating and doesn’t look too well. Hunched up against the bar, “hey man, what was in that bag you gave me earlier?”

“Fuck no idea. I just found it. Shit you don’t look so good. How much of it did you take?” I ask worried at his condition.

“The whole thing!” Steve tells me in a panic confession.

“Why the fuck would you do that? You’re not oding on me, are you?”

“No! The shit wasn’t even getting me high. That’s why I took it all,” he leans even closer so only the two of us can hear, “My fucking dick won’t go down. I think its some kind of Viagra shit!”

I nearly wet myself laughing at the poor bastard. It all makes perfect sense why he’s hunched up so close to the bar. He doesn’t want anyone to see him with a massive stiffie.

Still laughing I agree to take him to the nearest emergency department to get himself checked out. I stop several times on my way out of work making sure all the other security guys know exactly what’s wrong with him. The entire security team think its just as funny as I do and Stephen is guaranteed to be ribbed mercilessly by us.

The E.D. is a quick drive from my work. I know, I’ve been there a couple of times for security related incidents. I agree to hang around until Stephen has been seen and give him a lift back. While in the waiting room, I send Yui a message telling her I’ve taken a co-worker to hospital and that I’m still expecting to be home around the normal time I would be anyway. No response.

I’m in the hospital for a couple of hours with Stephen diagnosed with a priapism. I’m pretty sure I’ve had a couple of ‘Piyapisms’ in my life. He has to have the blood medically drained from his junk. Eventually we can leave and Stephen walks gingerly to my car, an ice pack pressed against his groin.

Hours after leaving work I get home and am surprised to have still not got a message back from Yui. Its not late so I give her phone a call and go straight to voice mail. I leave a message hoping everything’s ok and to call or message me later.

No knowing what to do with myself now, I sit down in front of my TV and wait to hear from Yui. The new God of War game has come out and I’ve downloaded it through the PlayStation store. Guess I can give that a go for now.
