Three wolves, and an Owlbear!

Leaping from the underbrush and howling are three wolves, joined by a mighty owlbear, which vocalizes an earthshaking roar.

I position myself in between the convoy and the creatures, I know I'm not physically strong enough to fight off any of them, but that's where my patron goddess comes in; the perverse Deity provided me with greater holy power than should ever be expected... but I suspected often that in exchange, She was the one responsible for most of my unwanted exposures.

The other guards have formed a defensive phalanx to protect the caravan from all angles, weapons hoisted.

Mustering but a diminutive portion of my divine strength, I cast a blazing holy fire; my intention is to scare the aggressive fauna off and hopefully not hurt them, but the creatures' only reaction to my feint is to leap back slightly before charging around the flickering embers of pure light.

I cast the spell again, this time with feeling, singeing the beasts' fur, causing the wolves to turn tail and flee back into the deeper woods, sufficiently scared. The eight-hundred-pound owlbear, on the other hand, remains unfazed by the holy blaze and begins to charge at us once more, which is when I panic, discovering to my great surprise that the long sleeve of my loose tunic has caught fire!

Beginning to blush, I drop my staff and doff the blazing garment, revealing my muscular back to the caravan, as my shirt becomes more consumed with the divine flames, I hold onto it foolhardily as the last remaining assailant attempts to tackle my now shirtless, blushing self.

I'm embarrassed at losing my clothing on yet another quest, and somehow the thought of Ming Zhao seeing me like this distracts me from the mortal danger I'm legitimately in.

But, just then, I have an idea for how I shall defeat the feral monster.
