It's Happening

The weird thing about this momentous day was that...it was just so normal. It was just another day. It was partly cloudy, a little cool, just another day. You and El get up, shower together, get ready together and get dressed together. Down in the kitchen you share some eggs, toast, fruit and juice with Fiona and your mother. You are informed that Peg had gone ahead to get the lab ready for you. As you eat you find out the whole family was going to be there today. Everyone had cleared their schedules to be there for you. Even Chloe.

After breakfast you brush your teeth and before you know it the four of you are standing at the door with shoes and jackets on.

You take a deep nervous breath. This was approaching so fast. You and El were hand in hand as usual. Fiona was patting your back and giving you encouraging words while your mother had you by the head and was smooching your cheeks. No matter what happened today you knew you had the best family in the world there for you all the way.

You all pile into the family SUV. Fiona drove this time as your mother wanted to turn and talk to you as you went. There is an almost electric positive nervous energy crackling through the vehicle as you go. Along the way you call both Allison and Stephen to let them know you were going through with the procedure. They of course thought it was a basic sex change type operation, but that would do. They both wish you luck. Allison mentions she'll drop by your house when she can with a get well bouquet. You tell her not to worry about it but she insists.

You soon arrive at the plain five story glass building where your aunt had her lab. It was a familiar area of the city as it was close to the university. The parking lot by the building is empty except for your aunt's car and two others. Fiona parks along side the street, opting not to use the lot.

With Elsie holding your hand to your left and Fiona offering her arm to you to the right, your mother leads you to a plain looking back door to the building. She says. "We have to take the stairs, we don't want the security guy at the front to see us. Be quiet everyone." With that you are reminded just how incredibly illegal this all was, your aunt was taking a hell of a risk here. And so were you!

Once in your aunt's lab you are greeted warmly by Peg and Chloe. Peg's assistant Lucy waits patiently by the side. Peg asks everyone but you and Lucy to wait in a lounge area. Initially it all just seems like a visit to the doctor's. Undressing, wearing a hospital gown, a few basic tests. Your hands are clammy and your mouth was cotton dry as your fear begins to ramp up. You **** yourself to stay calm though.

Finally they bring you into a larger room. A type of hospital style bed is set up in the center. All along the walls are strange scientific implements and equipment. You sit up on the bed and look around. They had five different types of I.V. bags set up at the ready. There is also a deep metal tray with square patches of what looks like cloth soaking in some sort of goo. You see two full syringes on another tray nearby along with a large glass cylinder full of a weird creamy green fluid. Lucy hands it to you.

"Drink this please." She says. She begins to take your smock off as well.

You give it a look, it didn't look that good. "That's a lot." You complain.

She nods. "It is a litre. Your body is going to need a heck of a lot of nutrients for this process. We need to provide your body with what it needs in every way we can."

You nod and **** the chalky viscous liquid down your throat. You finish with a burp.

You are laid out nude and a variety of monitors and I.V. needles are hooked up to you. "Will it hurt?" You ask your aunt as she readies you.

She smiles down at you and strokes your shoulder. "You'll be asleep my dear. You won't feel a thing."

You feel the first needle in your arm to your opposite side. You don't look, preferring instead to look at your aunt's friendly supportive face as your consciousness fades.
