Barely.

The swordsman struggles harder, and you actually cut yourself on his sword a few times trying to hold him. Very small cuts, but still significant due to the sword's silver properties. The wolves continue their ****, although a few of them suffer minor damage as he kicks his legs, hitting some of them a few times. You growl and roar at him while continuing to hold him, and he continues to fight back.

You're surprised that he's so strong. As a werewolf you're stronger than an average human, even some strength-focused classes. Of course, he's probably a higher level than you. But you still manage to hold him down until his health drops to critical level. Then you finally hear him make a sound other than low grunting and other sounds of struggle. He chuckles.

"You're more clever than most werewolves, I'll give you that," he says. "Congratulations."

Then he seizes his struggling, and you happily deliver the final blow by biting his neck.

*Ding*

It must be great to be able to be so casual about dying, you think to yourself. Heroes really don't appreciate enough how well off they are. But enough of that, now that you finally have some time to breathe you should check your stats. You hope that killing this guy made a notable change.

And then you feel that it certainly did. Because you start to grow again.

This time you've gotten used to it enough not to fall over in pain, but it still hurts as your body stretches and hardens, making your bone structure denser, your muscles larger and harder, your height greater and your claws and teeth sharper and larger. Once it's over you stand up, and comparing yourself to the dead swordsman, you would guess that you now stand about seven feet tall. You open your stats excitedly. What could this growth have brought?

Fearsome Roar: Inflicts fear on animals of level 15 and below and humanoids of level 8 and below.

Wow... Wow. You gained THREE new abilities, two of which active abilities that are both actually useful! And you're an alpha werewolf now! You got a feeling that those alpha-related abilities are going to prove very handy...

But wait... Aren't werewolves supposed to gain alpha status at level 20 or something? How come you got it at such a low level? Maybe your lack of rivaling werewolves in the area has something to do with that, or maybe it was your act of saving your wolf friends and working together with them that granted you the rank early? Whatever it may be, you certainly aren't complaining.

You also got a little boost to your regeneration ability. It still isn't very powerful, but it technically doubled in efficiency.

But now that you're an alpha werewolf and can form a pack, you probably should do so rather quickly. Looking around, you remember that you just so happen to have a few candidates already at your disposal.

It seems like some of the wolves also leveled up from helping with killing the two heroes, so that is most certainly good. But which ones to choose... You can only have two pack members, at least with your current level, and while the stronger ones are easily distinguished, it feels wrong to not include the others...
