Chapter 4 by anonenffan anonenffan

What's the catch with Mackenzie's room? Or is all (apparently) well?

It had a faulty door lock.

The redhead strode happily through the hallways of the ship. While she was on board the cruise liner, it soon became apparent to her that the ship was bigger than it looked from the shipyard, which was quite the achievement. It was like being on board a floating city!

The area where the passengers were meant to stay resembled a luxurious hotel. Some of the more expensive rooms were near the fine dining and swimming pools. Mackenzie's room, being more of a budget room, was below deck. That didn't matter to her though. This was a vacation, her room would be far from the most interesting thing she expected to see.

Mackenzie glanced at her room key. Like what a hotel would have, it was a card key, with the number "two forty five" printed on it, indicating her room number. She smiled as she passed by a few more doors to reach her room. From what she understood, the crew had loaded the luggage of all the passengers to their matching rooms.

The red head smiled, and stuck the key card into the slot for her door. A red light turned on instead of a green one. Mackenzie's smile faded, and she tried the key again. However, the red light illuminated again. She double checked to make sure the room key matched the door, and kept trying.

"Come on..." Mackenzie said under her breath, jiggling the door hand and trying the key card over and over again.

After several tries, the light turned green, and the door handle yielded. Mackenzie smiled, finally able to get into her room. That was going to have to be fixed, or it would get annoying in a hurry. It was, after all, a door, and one that Mackenzie would have to use often.

Is there anything else amiss with Mackenzie's room once she's inside?
