You followed the Forman as far as your patience would allow, trying to get glimpses at Eirene's ability list before she closed the window. It was slow work and eventually you weren't able to open the window at all. Whatever, you'd learned enough.

Abilities:
Smite: The paladin cleaves a mighty blow that deals increased damage to the wicked.
Pray: The paladin prays once a day for healing or guidance, The actual result depends on the god she prays to and her alignment to that god.
Purge: The paladin-

And that's when you'd stopped being able to open the window. Pray probably wouldn't work while you were in control....unless you prayed to a god she wouldn't normally follow. Hm....In fact it was a little strange she couldn't activate that ability on her own to get rid of you. Maybe she didn't have enough favor with the gods or maybe it was just a game limitation. You'll figure that out later, right now you were murdering this asshole quest giver.

Eirene cringed in your mind, programmed to hate the sight of the failure screen. You on the other hand basked in the nominal XP gain and the glory of slaying the hated NPC. You aren't sure if he counted as "wicked" for the parameters of the ability but you certainly saw him as such. You could feel there wasn't as much XP this time, probably because you shared the kill with Eirene, even if she didn't get any XP from it. Now, to repeat until you had a few solid levels on your host.

The beauty of the situation was that it was a tutorial mission so it reset every time she failed it. You worked out a pretty good system after the first few runs: Follow the Forman a few turns into the cave, past the aggro radius of the other NPC's, then hit him with Smite. It was pretty effective. With the added sneak bonus he went down in one hit, something you realized when you attacked him head on. Then it took two hits. Dun-dun-dun-duuuun. Quest Failed...-Ding! Level Up!

For the seventh time that day you stride out of the cave smiling. Still limping and close to exhaustion, but smiling. You'd leveled up twice and you could feel a solid barrier between yourself and the now-lower level paladin. You could probably call it a day, the sun was starting to set...just one more round. Then you'll be done.
