Not much has changed

The exact same store that he'd walked into.

Nothing had changed. Of course nothing had changed, it was just an app, how the hell could it possibly have changed anything?

Shaking his head at his own stupid expectations, Josh got back to the task at hand. He'd texted himself a list of supplies beforehand and without any further distractions it didn't take long for him to fill a cart up with everything he needed. The longest delay coming when he was looking for wood screws and an Asian woman wandered down the aisle in a bikini top and a skirt that was better described as a belt.

But he didn't let thoughts of Korean whores shopping for DIY supplies in the middle of the day distract him. He'd already wasted enough time on his phone and he had more errands still to run. Even if it was really odd that a working girl wouldn't get changed before coming into chain store, and why the hell hadn't the employees stopped her? It wasn't exactly a good look for a store like theirs. There were kids in the store for fuck's-

_'No. Stop. No more getting sidetracked dammit.' _It took a supreme effort of will but Josh resisted the impulse to follow the almost-certainly-a-prostitute and finished his shopping. Finally heading for the front of the shop to buy his supplies...only to stop, dead, in the middle of an aisle. Totally and completely stunned by what he was looking at.

They were definitely the same two girls that he'd seen earlier. Only the Egyptian looking woman know had an additional dozen piercings that he could see, delicate lines tattooed across her neck and face, and chimed suggestively with every step she took. Which held his attention for all a split second before her friend stole it by being completely naked in the middle of the store.

Well, that wasn't quite true. She was wearing a worn pair of boots and a kind of clear plastic poncho, stained with paint and varnish and the like, but beneath it she was wearing nothing but bodypaint. Detailed enough to suggest jeans and a t-shirt, but obviously just paint.

His first thought was that there was some kind of pervert convention in town and the police must already be on their way to the store. Except nobody was reacting to her with more than the occasional leer. There was a single cashier manning the checkouts, an Indian girl who looked familiar but for the impressive size of her chest, and neither she nor the other customers in line were paying much attention.

His second thought was that he was hallucinating and about to have a stroke. Only he didn't smell burnt toast and he definitely wasn't the only one who could see the naked chick. Not with the nearly-luminous blush she was sporting and the way her hands hovered uncertainly around herself. Like she dearly wanted to cover herself but was hesitating to actually do it, as if she thought it would be rude or something.

Even her friend was being careful not to block his view of her, and they had definitely noticed how he was staring at them but how the hell was he meant to not stare when there was some kind of Brazilian goddess going nude in public?

'Wait...Brazilian?' She certainly looked right for it, and that was either the craziest coincidence ever or else-

He almost hurled his phone across the store with how fast he yanked it out of his pocket, tapping in his password with enough **** to bruise his fingertips and finding a notification from the app.

When he tapped it he found himself scrolling down a list of rules, most of them just slightly different from what he would have considered normal. The unintended consequences of what he was suddenly very certain had not actually been a harmless waste of time.

He hadn't even begun to wrap his around the power he held, or what he'd just done with it, when he exited out of the app and noticed another unfamiliar icon on his phone screen. Tapping it before he could think better, Josh watched a brief startup sequence flash across the screen before the app's title Pedicheck sent another wave of confusion through him. Along with a weird sense like he was on the verge of remembering something.

This new app looked a lot more normal than the rule changing one, and he almost staggered with the recollection of it launching to great acclaim a few years ago, making its teenage creator a multi-millionaire almost overnight and revolutionising the whole concept of tagging.

He had barely glanced at the basic map displayed on his screen before another deluge of memory reminded him that women across the world had been traded and stolen and treated as commodities through much of history, owing to the fetishes that were indelibly imprinted upon them. Of course women with the most desirable traits had become widely traded along the spice routes, leading to the breeding programs that had women of almost every ethnicity outnumbering men and being practically farmed for trade.

Not that he could muster more than a vague sense of disgust for crimes that far in the past. Nobody had gone that far in a modern country in over a century, not legally anyway. Not to mention all the peace treaties and alliances that had he suddenly remembered had been brokered with exchanges of women throughout history, making history classes a lot more interesting for the few boys in his class at school. Hell, comparing his two sets of memories (which was a weird thing to be able to do) made Josh certain that this new world had been more peaceful on the whole, and if that had come at a cost to women's rights in the past then that was all in the past now.

The last of the equal rights laws had been passed before he was born and the only **** girls left were the willing ones.

A shuffle in front of him called Josh back to reality in time to move with the advancing line, watching the two girls making their purchases with a sinking feeling in his gut. After all, if this new reality had still arrived at the same basic laws and rights for women he was used to then all he'd really gained was eye candy. He still couldn't actually do anything to the girls in front of him.

Unless?

He went back to his phone and tapped the icons on the map that corresponded to the two shoppers and the checkout girl. The last one loaded first -'Indian purebreed', no surprise there- followed closely by an equally obvious 'Egyptian/Berber'. Then the last one popped up a very disappointing 'Tag Set to Private'.

Because of course girls would be allowed to do that. They hadn't been legally required to show strangers their tags in almost twenty years, why would an electronic tag be any different? Especially with how careful some girls were to conceal their full pedigree.

"Damn." He muttered, not even bothering to follow the departing shoppers with his eyes and suppressing a growl when the Indian girl noticed him staring at her chest and gave him an unimpressed look. He departed while wondering just what the hell the point was in his new world if he couldn't actually do anything to most of these women.

Except he was forgetting something again. He was forgetting someone very important.

Sara. He was still dating Sara in this world, and the more he thought about her the closer he felt to recalling just what her own ethnicity was. Not that it would be that hard to change it with the app if he gave it some thought. Meaning he still had all his favourite fetishes waiting at his fingertips. He just had to load up his car with his purchases and head for home.
