Might've been better off quitting instead

"Okay Kara, ready?" Alex asked from the safety of the off-site observation room.

"Yeah, but why must I be nude for this again?" Kara said while inside the modified training room. She used her hands to cover up her body with her hands despite being all alone.

"For a couple reasons. For one, you need to absorb the full energy of the radiation treatment if you want this to work at full efficiency. Otherwise, you'll have to take ten times the amount of treatments to be done with this. Besides, anything you could wear would be instantly vaporized under the harsh simulated sun, even your Supergirl costume." Alex said over the intercom.

"Well glad to know it's safe," Kara muttered.

"Now don't worry, right outside that door is a robe for you to wear until you can change into your normal clothes, no one will see you," Alex said. If she heard Kara's remark she didn't show it. "Now, just to be clear, you want the fastest treatment? I know last time it didn-"

"Yes, I want the fastest treatment, can we get this over with now?" Kara asked, annoyed.

Kara didn't want to remember the last few times. No matter how much solar energy she was given she would burn out way too quickly. She was capable of taking out the escaped prisoners of Fort Rozz but always had to run off the second she was done and had to cut her time to respond to more normal emergencies or train her powers to almost nothing. The DEO scientists said her cells have increased their capacity but she barely noticed.

The good news was that after weeks they finally greenlit her idea to up the ante to the radiation chamber's max level. Their research seemed to point to that amount of radiation forcing her body into processing the energy into superpowers quickly and permanently rather than burning it as fast as possible like it had before. Instead of just training her cells by having them have a taste of radiation for periods at a time they'd be throwing them into the metaphorical ocean and hoping they'd learn to swim. The big danger was if her super healing would keep up with the number of cells lost in the process. It worked with a small lamp on her hand for a second but this was her entire body for over a minute. She had to shave all over for this, no dead hair allowed to block the rays. She fought that last bit, only yielding when the DEO said she could keep the hair on her scalp. She was overdue for a wax anyways.

"Kara, just remember, all your cells have to experience this. All of them," Alex said.

"Yeah, yeah: T-pose, spread eagle. You saying it isn't going to make me more comfortable with it," Kara said as she got into position. Her sister knew her too well. Being able to tell she was covering up with her hands without even seeing her.

The flash was intense. That was an understatement but there was no other way to describe it. It was really like she was in a star. A dim star, but a star none the less. She couldn't even see the floor, where there were no lights. She tried to close her eyes but they were **** open. If she was human she would've been blind. Well, she would've been vaporized, but also blind. And then, just as quickly as it started, it was over. She stumbled a bit but then realized something, she was floating. She was subconsciously hovering above the ground."Yessss!" Kara said as she flew around the room.

Normally she could feel her reserves drain while flying. The fact that it had become second nature meant that flying around was now just a drop in the bucket for her natural solar batteries. It worked! She zoomed around so fast she poked a hole in the compound roof. She flew out of the desert and around the surrounding areas. She flew all the way to National City in record time.

"Wow, I might be even faster than Superman!" Kara said as she took a scenic tour of the city.

She went through all the nooks and crannies, helping everyone she saw who needed it, and saying hi to everyone. She went up high and down low. She tested how fast she could go from the ground to the top of the Lex Corp. building. She must've spent an hour or two there because when she finally got bored and came back to the DEO HQ Alex had gone from worried sick to resigned.

"I was wondering where you but it turns out I just needed to turn on the news," Alex said.

"Really? I was on the NEWS?" Kara asked, excited.

"I mean, yeah. Kara, people have only been seeing bits and pieces of Supergirl. You never stay for photo ops or interviews, and you've been a superhero for months now. Yet today, you take an entire tour of National City, greet basically every citizen, and you do it all while nude." Alex said.

Kara's smile quickly melted off her face. She immediately realized her predicament. She threw her hands at super speed to cover up.

"Ahhh!" Kara screamed as she ran off so quickly the wind threw papers around the room and knocked Alex off her feet and onto the floor.
