It's weird

'So, how's Liv doing the past week?' Dr Wills was sitting in front of Josh. He'd said nothing about him coming half an hour late (although Josh knew he would report it back to his mother as soon as the session was over). Josh almost spit out the coffee Dr Wills had given him.

'I'm sorry?'

'Your girlfriend, Liv, how is she?'

'I don't know what you're talking about sir. My girlfriend is dead.' You try to pierce his eyes. Whatever trick he was trying out on you, you wouldn't fall for it.

Dr Wills laughed. 'Oh don't look at me like that. It's not a trick. Just a basic question. I didn't know your Liv, so I wouldn't know how she's doing now, would I?'

'And you think I do?'

'Well, You can't read her thoughts of course, but I'm sure you talk to each other in your dreams. Just tell me how she's been.'

'She's dead.'

Dr Wills nods. 'I see. And is she mad about this? Or sad maybe? It can be hard on the deceased when they can't accept the reality of the afterlife.'

The afterlife? Josh brushed the stubble on his chin. He'd almost forgotten about that weird app on his phone.

'She's okay, I guess. She likes it.'

Dr Wells nodded. 'And right now? What does she do when you're awake?'

'She's sleeping?'

'No really Josh, I'm not joking. You know how the dead can get frustrated when they aren't able to dream walk. Does she ask you to sleep more? Does she allow you to wake up?'

She had asked him to stay asleep. Hadn't she? No, he shouldn’t get his hopes up. But still, was it possible that the afterlife actually existed?

'She said she was worried about me.'

Dr Wells waited for Josh to go on, but when he didn't he went on with more questions.

'So what did you do that worried her?'

'I ... I was confused. I think.' Josh looked at his therapist. Could it be that he really knew what he was talking about? No, it had to be a trick.

'And Josh, have you thought about my proposal since the last time we talked?'
