Chapter 6 by Rowenar Rowenar

What plan do they end up following?

Give Jane a character arc

"Will it help?" Darcy said.

"What?!" Jane said. "Of course clothes will help, look at me- don't look at me!"

"I mean, temporarily, sure," Darcy said. "But you can't replace your whole wardrobe or live off my outfits indefinitely, can you? The best solution's moving myeh-myeh."

"Mjolnir," Jane said. She sighed, tugging the towel around herself a little more. "No one can lift it!"

"Not with that attitude," Darcy said. "Thor couldn't lift it first time we saw him, but he grew as a person and all that jazz. If you do the same you can pick it up and get your clothes back."

"So I've just got to be 'worthy'?" Jane said. "We don't know how long that could take."

"Where's the harm in giving it a go?" Darcy said. "It solves all your problems. I won't tell the big guy if it doesn't work."

Jane shifted. She adjusted her towel again, holding it with one hand, before glancing at the hammer. Its handle was still stuck out, almost taunting her with how close her clothes were.

Damn it. Jane sighed again, flushing slightly.

"Ok, one last go," Jane said. "I'm not waiting around to hope that this will work though."

Darcy clapped slightly. Jane rolled her eyes, walking up to the pile. One hand holding her towel's ends over her chest, the other gripped the hammer's handle. It didn't move an inch.

"Try both hands!" Darcy said.

"Darcy!" Jane said, turning and flushing. "If I can't lift it with one hand, two won't help."

"Might be heavy," Darcy said. "Isn't Thor, like, super-strong as it is?"

"I'm kinda holding my towel up here!" Jane said.

"Oh, fine," Darcy said. "I'll turn around. Happy?"

Her friend did just that, turning her back to Jane. Jane hesitated for a couple of seconds.

Oh screw it, might as well get this over with. On the off chance Darcy was right, or that sheer desperation counted as 'worthy,' she turned her attention back to Mjolnir. Taking a deep breath Jane moved her second hand to the handle, flushing as her towel dropped to the floor.

One, two... Jane pulled, groaning a little. Nothing. She sighed, turning-

To see Darcy peeking back over her shoulder. Jane squeaked, quickly crossing her arms over her bare chest, and lifting one leg slightly to hope her slim thigh would offer her some modesty.

"Darcy!" Jane yelped. "No peeking!"

"Hey, can't blame a girl for being curious," Darcy said. She shrugged. "Besides, you've seen me naked."

"You were drunk and walked into the wrong room, I didn't sneak a peek at you!"

"Still, fair's fair," Darcy said. Suddenly her eyes widened. "Hey! Maybe it'll help!"

"What?!" Jane yelped again. "How will you seeing me naked help lift the hammer?!"

"Think about it," Darcy said. "Thor was selfish first time he wanted to lift it; you're kinda being that too, now, only concerned with getting your clothes back. So if that stops being a priority, maybe the worthy part of you will shine through enough."

"You're reading a lot into a hammer's psychology," Jane said, blushing.

"It makes sense!" Darcy said. "Does it hurt to try?"

Jane fidgeted, bouncing a little as she struggled to keep balance with one raised leg. She shifted slightly, turning more of her side to her friend to better hide with one foot on tiptoes, and trying not to think about how much of her ass Darcy must be able to see.

"Fine! Last try!" Jane said, exasperated. "If it doesn't work no more ideas! And we never talk about this again!"

"Deal!" Darcy said brightly.

Flushing, Jane lowered her leg and moved both arms to the hammer, trying to forget about how much Darcy could see. God, this had better work...

She gripped the handle of the hammer and-

Does it work?
