Chapter 60 by Durianmasam Durianmasam

What's next?

Futures are born

With the **** attempts against Celene and Anora foiled and all internal corruption severely purged, the Inquisition's position was never more secure. In fact, support across Ferelden and Orlais was skyrocketing, and in the eyes of the common people, no one was more suited to leading both nations to victory than Aedan Cousland.

Through Inquisition money and skilled labour, damaged infrastructure was restored and expanded, and new armies were drafted to garrison **** towns now fortified with new walls and towers. Roads were being built, schools were being built, industries were being built, new forts were being built. With roads and ships came the flow of trade, and trade brought new life to once desolate towns and villages, ushering in a new era of economic prosperity in the middle of a war-torn land.

As the new Teyrna of the Brecillian Forest, Lanaya adopted the surname of Kemail, and as the matriarch of her house and all Elves under her care she led them to greatness. With the generous loans and charity by the Inquisition, she was able to fortify the forest and build new harbours, navies and naval fortresses that fended off several Venatori skirmishes. The old ruins were restored, and the main keep served as Lanaya's seat of power.

Pirates looking to prowl the waters instead met a watery grave, and many ships carrying Elven slaves were freed and taken under their care. Trade blossomed with Highever and Gwaren, and it became a common sight to see Dalish merchants offering new wares in their markets.

A string of new births was also recorded, and Lanaya herself gave birth to your half Human-half Elven child named Tamlen, who kept much of the Elven beauty in his features and only little of yours. The case of Tamlen legitimization has been send to Anora and she's a little bit miffed for not being informed of this.

The Dwarves of Orzammar were undergoing radical change, measures adopted to slowly break down the Caste system and unify the Dwarven kindred together against all odds. King Bhelen, who himself took a Casteless wife, served as the role model for a new Dwarven nobility far more influenced by surfacer ideas.

Working closely with Queen Anora, they would make Ferelden a welcome home, and an exchange of knowledge took place; Orzammar would gain a steady influx of food imports and more troops in exchange for knowledge on stonemasonry, metallurgy, rune theory and so on.

This new alliance, wrought by the hand of Aedan who usurped the useless fat man, was far stronger than any alliance in history despite only being forged this year.

Mages under the Inquisition’s supervision thrives exponentially, and free to practice their craft in the open they facilitate countless discoveries of new spells and theories either for public use or military. One such discovery is the creation of short range travel between two eluvians, which you secretly commission.

~

The sun was shining brightly when pained cries echoed throughout the master bedroom, where you were pacing back and forth between two Eluvians connecting the Winter Palace in Orlais and the Royal Palace in Ferelden in an effort to be there with your wives and the babies soon to be born.

Crowds of midwives on both sides surrounded both monarchs to ensure smooth delivery. Both Anora and Celene look haggard in what must have been a couple hours in the middle of labours.

In the usual fashion of women in labour, hurls of insults and threats were thrown at you such as "cutting your junk off after this" and whatnot.

To your credit you do not laugh at their crude attempts at humour, simply squeaking in faux fear.

"You need to push more, Your Majesty," Celene's midwives urged.

"That's it, keep going!" Anora's midwives echoed.

Excruciating abdominal pain was the meal the two monarchs had to endure, yet despite the cacophony of cursing and swearing from their mouths the two could not be happier for themselves, their children and their husband.

Soon the last cries escaped their lips as the contractions stopped, and healthy wailing filled the birthing chambers as midwives happily wiped the babes clean and swaddled them in white cloths.

With Celene, she gave birth to twins and a rare one. One female and one male. you bear eyes on your firstborn daughter, eldest of the twins, who inherited her blond hair and pitch black eyes. While her twin inherited his brown hair and blue eyes.

“Isn’t she beautiful?” Said Celene, “Ah, reminds me so much of my mother…” while holding her firstborn daughter

“She must have been quite the beauty,” You remark.

“And also quite the sadistic bitch against her enemies, with her sharp tongue and wit,” Said Celene.

“Heh, she must have been to birth such a cunning woman like you,” You said.

“True,” Said Celene, “So what shall we name both of them?”

“I would like to name her Eleanor, after my own mother. Brave, loyal, smart and cunning,” You said referring to the baby in Celene's hold.

“I heard about what happened to your family,” Said Celene, “Damn shame.”

“It’s past, no point dwelling on it,” You said.

“But it is a good name for her,” Said Celene.

"And her twins will be Reynaud Valmont, after your father. Because you name her Eleanor ..i think its only appropriate that her twins be name after your parent." you said.

"I'd like that" said Celene.

“So we’ve decided?” You asked.

“Indeed, Aedan. Their name are Eleanor and Reynaud Valmont,” Said Celene.

-

With Anora, you gently pat her head, squeezing her hand for comfort.

“Took you long enough, love,” Said Anora, “Celene’s safe?”

“Her and our newborn twins daughter Eleanor and Clarrise,” You said.

“And here is our newborn son,” Said Anora, “He looks so cute.”

“Give him two decades and he’ll be a muscular knight of Ferelden,” You remarked, “Though I won’t deny him wanting to enjoy his baby fat.”

Anora softly chuckled, saying, “So what would you like to name him then? I’d have a name in mind, but…”

“They mostly remind you of some people, right?” You said.

“Yes, I’m afraid so,” Said Anora, “So I was hoping for your input.”

“Hm… I would think Bryce, after my father,” You said, “Though I’d also like to name him Duncan, after the late commander of the Ferelden Grey Wardens.”

“He was a good man,” Said Anora, “So it’s decided, my son shall be named Duncan Mac Tir.”

The newly named Duncan giggled happily at his name.
