Chapter 4 by AurelianWaterfall AurelianWaterfall

What does Luna do with this new information?

Everything must go!

Luna hesitated as she considered her options, then realized with a start that her hesitation must be the result of the flibuffles! Things were worse than she thought; the article had mentioned how the absentmindedness the pests brought on prevented their victims from seeking treatment, so she must be close to that stage. It was obvious to her that she needed to deal with the situation quickly, before she became unable to focus on it. Clearly her only choice was to get rid of her robes, to deprive them of their preferred nesting ground.

In something of a hurry, she pulled her suitcases down to the floor and started going through them. There, to her horror, she found that all of her clothing was jumbled together, robes, uniforms, and street clothes all wrapped up in each other. The whole mess must be crawling with flibuffles, she thought to herself. Nothing was salvageable, leaving her questioning how she was going to handle the rest of the year with just the outfit she was wearing. Washing it so much would wear it out terribly quickly, after all. Perhaps if I apply essence of an Umgubular Slashkilter to the cloth, it would last longer. Although... Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the realization she was drifting from the task at hands, further proof of the flibuffle menace. This was followed by a second, more disturbing realization. If the flibuffles are already having this much of an effect on me, than they must already be in my clothes!

Concerned about the flibuffles distracting her again, Luna quickly turned to the task of adding her clothes to the pile. Her shoes came off first, followed quickly by her mismatched socks. Her dress she pulled over her head in a single motion, tossing it onto the pile with the rest. Standing in the middle of a train compartment in her plain underwear brought home the reality of what she was doing: Luna was planning to attend Hogwarts without a stitch of clothing. Once again, she attributed her hesitation to the flibuffles, realizing that even her undergarments had to be infested. She quickly unclasped her bra and let it slide down onto the pile, then bent over to slide her panties down. Before she could have second thoughts, Luna yanked open the window, gathered the pile in her arms, and tossed her clothing out into the Scottish countryside.

Luna shivered as she stood in her compartment, totally naked except for her butterbeer cork necklace, which hung between her breasts as if to call attention to them. She shut the window and sat down next to her small purse in order to evaluate the results. Luna was struck by how much more she felt now. It was if she was hyperaware of everything around her, from the constant, rapid thudding of her heartbeats to the slight tickle of the worn seat-cushion. Clearly the article had been right, and now that she was free of the flibuffles her mind was again operating at full power. She had to admit that she found the sensation pleasant, and resolved to hold firm in following the article’s advice. Surely with her mind clear, her last year at Hogwarts would be much easier on her. After all, it was not as though she was a stranger to the odd comment or stare already, so she must be ready for the attention her nakedness would bring, right?

Does she warn anyone else about the flibuffles?
