Chapter 9 by gramana gramana

What's next?

Eva and Iris's Duplicate

Every step of the way back to the lab, Eva was mentally cursing herself. She'd let herself get distracted. She couldn't afford that.

She hadn't had a day as refreshing as that for a very, very long time. No frantic pacing around the lab slowly going mad at how nothing lined up, no **** searching of the real world for any sign that what she needed had arisen. A meta-human who'd recently arisen was the final piece: her agents in the real world would get what they needed.

But even that, it was just waiting, just dwelling on everything that might go wrong. She'd tried to escape hundreds of times and had always been met with failure - she couldn't do anything that would risk it this time. She'd let more slip than she should have, to Iris.

"I'm going to bed," Iris said, as they made it back to the room.

She was still nude, still carrying her damp clothes in one arm. Still fidgeting.

That part of today had been nice too, Eva reflected. Iris being naked for such a prolonged period was... it had been a long time since Eva had seen anyone else. That was as far as Eva was willing to follow those thoughts, though Iris's nudity had certainly compounded how pleasant the company was.

"Tired?" Eva said.

"Exhausted," Iris said. She scratched her arm unconsciously; Eva noted that. It was one of the small tics induced by the properties of this dimension. It was getting to her. "Most active day we've had in here. Guess it takes getting used to."

"It can," Eva said. "Sleep well."

"You too," Iris said.

Stumbling a little, Iris walked quickly down the hallways; Eva couldn't help but watch her leave. Iris was just as gorgeous seen from behind as the front, especially when naked.

No distractions. Eva cleared her throat.

She lingered a moment, mentally going over her progess. The duplicate Iris was gathering equipment, Iris was too distracted to get in the way, so far the Flash and his team hadn't noticed anything amiss...

Part of her did want to ask for their help. She just didn't want to risk it - there were things she had to do when she got out, **** on the people that had left her trapped there. Well, person. She knew enough about the Flash to say he'd want to stop her. But once that was out of the way, she could hopefully use the same means that had freed her, to free Iris.

She did like the idea of a trip to the real Jitters again, after all this. Especially if Iris was still naked.

Pieces slowly falling into place.

Eva walked through the lab. When she reached Iris's room, she waited for a moment, she could hear the familiar sound of regular, sleepy breathing.

"Iris?" Eva called softly. "Are you awake?"

No response, as she'd expected. Gently, Eva nudged the door open.

"Iris?" she said again.

It was best to be sure; there was still no reply. Quickly, quietly, Eva crouched by Iris's clothes.

They were mostly dry, even if not yet suitable to wear. She just used her fingers that time, tearing a bit more, doing a dash more damage. The hole in her jeans widened, and the button at the top came off in her hand. Smiling gladly, Eva lengthened the tear up the side of Iris's shirt; in a fit of recklessness, spurred on by how good Iris had looked topless, she finished the job, going up an inch or so more until all that kept the shirt from being a wide-open sheet was a lone thread.

That would snap when Iris went to pick it up. It wouldn't be much use as a shirt if it flared open at anything. There would be nothing holding the front up.

Content, Eva pulled back; she took one last look to make sure Iris was asleep, then walked out the door.

She was almost vibrating. A day away from the lab, a day out in the city she missed so much, and a wonderful view and companion all in one. Mental images she wasn't sure that would ever leave her. She hoped she could convince Iris to take a similar walk with her when they were back in reality.

Then again, why wait?

On the verge of humming to herself, Eva made her way to a private room and a mirror. She focused: the reflection resolved to once more show the real world. It was still daylight, due to how early Iris had turned in.

This time, it was day. Her agent was at home, or rather at Iris's home, writing an article to help her cover. After making sure she was alone, Eva waved her hand, making herself appear in the mirror. The duplicate Iris spotted her, and quickly put her laptop down. She stood up, loyal as ever.

"Is there a problem?" Iris said.

"Not yet," Eva said. "I may need to provide assistance for you. I'll pick someone to replace shortly."

"I understand," Iris said.

Eva paused.

"Do you remember the first thing you wore when you were made?" Eva said.

The double hesitated.

"I... think so," Iris said.

"There was a long jacket. Black. I want you to find it for me," Eva said.

She suddenly sounded breathless. Still, her creations were devoted to her. She was their creator - something of a monarch, even. Eva watched impatiently as the confused duplicate walked away from the mirror, sorting through the jackets in the West-Allen household.

It was something the real Iris had said, an image Eva couldn't quite shake. Something she needed to see. The first thing the double would have worn would have been the same clothes Iris had worn when Eva had pulled her into the mirror.

The double came back, holding a perfect replica of Iris's jacket. Eva felt her heartbeat quicken.

"Put it on," Eva said. When Iris, still bewildered, moved to obey, Eva quickly clarified: "Put just it on. Everything else off."

Iris blinked. She hesitated a moment, apparently baffled.

"Is there a... reason for this?" Iris said.

"I gave you an order," Eva said.

She was almost squirming now. Iris had mentioned planning to wear only the jacket when she got back to the real world - while Eva had no intention of letting her wear so much, she longed to see what that would look like.

The double's hesitation quickly vanished, superseded by loyalty. She nodded, and was only trembling a little as she began to undress. Even after having a comparable view for the last few hours, Eva still couldn't bring herself to look away. Shirt, and skirt, and boots, and matching underwear all discarded. Rather quickly, Iris reached for her jacket, slipping her arms into it and hastily closing it.

She did it up tightly, holding one hand over the middle to make extra-sure it was scrunched up, as though the zip wasn't enough. She adjusted her hair, and looked back through the mirror, flustered and confused all at once.

At first glance, she did seem decent. Her legs were bare from the knee down, but that didn't necessarily mean much else; equally, there was no sign of a shirt around her neck, but that could mean nothing. The coat was as decent as the real Iris had hoped. Still, her expression made it clear something was amiss.

"Does this... help?" Iris said, uncertain.

Eva paused.

She needed an excuse. Her creations would always be predisposed to follow her, she was sure, but they might need a bit of a push to commit to any more embarrassing paths.

"Almost," Eva said. "I have one new task for you."

Iris seemed relieved at that. She sat down, apparently content with passing her new attire off as a distraction. The coat was hiked a little way up her thigh as she sat.

"You know the coffee shop Jitters?" Eva said.

"I do," Iris said.

"I want you to go there. Now," Eva said. She was almost shaking, thoughts she'd had throughout the day coming into focus. "When you're there, take the jacket off, and order a drink."

Iris stiffened.

"Um. What will..." her voice trailed off.

"It's a distraction," Eva lied. "I've been watching the others through the mirrors. They don't suspect you yet, but they have mentioned some strange behavior."

"I could correct that," Iris said.

"No," Eva said. "You haven't succeeded with that - instead, you'll give them a red herring. If you do this, they'll focus on this much more than anything that might reveal to them our real intentions."

Iris hesitated. Eva met her eyes more firmly.

"Success is assured," Eva said.

"Success is assured," Iris echoed. She faltered. "If... If you say it's necessary."

"I do," Eva said.

Eva tried to keep her expression schooled as Iris stood up; Eva lifted a hand, veiling herself from Iris's view so she didn't have to worry so much about staying under control. She still watched, so very careful, almost hungry as the jacket-clad Iris stood up and walked haltingly towards the door.

Technically this plan would work. If Team Flash was more worried with why Barry's wife was about to have a slew of public nudity instances, they'd miss a couple more of their friends being replaced. She could slip them into out-of-the-way parts of this dimension and have their duplicates go ahead and complete the mission.

Easy. And in the mean time...

There weren't mirrors out on the street, but Eva could peer out through any reflective surface, not needing to make herself visible. Windows of buildings, cars, bus stops, brass doorhandles, countless portals to see the world opened up before her, and she cycled through them, keeping her eye on Iris.

She made her way down the street, wearing nothing but a fairly bulky pair of boots to walk in, constantly fiddling with her jacket. Eva could see her trying to keep her expression under control, all nervous breathing and twitches.

Eva did wonder how people would react to Iris just walking down the street without the jacket; maybe she could ask for that later. her mind was buzzing.

Something else she'd thought about had been using her ability to display the real Iris in every mirror and window she could, while she'd been walking naked around the reflected city. She wouldn't, of course - that would certainly draw more attention than she wanted. It was a pleasing thought to her though, for some reason.

The duplicate Iris at last made it to Jitters. Eva focused, and took the perspective of a glass divider between the two levels of Jitters, the mirror clearly displaying the shop's interior. Iris walked in, and made her way to an empty table. She sat down.

Eva pressed her legs together, trembling for a reason she couldn't quite put a finger on, sheer anticipation making her not quite mind the wait. Iris was psyching herself up, apparently replaying Eva's words and instructions over and over in her head.

She gave the coffee shop two look-arounds. One was to take in how many customers it had; while it wasn't exactly packed, it was far from empty. The other was a look around every reflective surface, as if Eva was going to say it was all one big joke.

Eva waited. Iris swallowed.

Then, in a motion so fluid it almost looked like she wasn't utterly mortified, she unzipped the jacket and let it slip off of her shoulders. Eva saw her tense as several dozen pairs of eyes were suddenly fixated on her.

When she stood up, she left the jacket behind, draped over the chair; she walked very quickly to the counter, one arm crossed over her breasts in a way that was very reminiscent of the real Iris. She relied on suddenly getting very close to the counter to hide her sex, and relied on denial to pretend the whole shop wasn't eyeing her butt.

Captivating. Eva chewed her lip, unable to tear her eyes away from the sight. Now _that _was how she wanted Iris to be naked in Jitters. Nothing to cover with, with so many people able to see her.

She was stammering out an order, apparently struggling to find the right words - or struggling to have the person at the desk willing to talk about coffee.

Eva's attention suddenly went to the table. Iris's chair was still draped there, and the chair legs were a metal buffed to just enough of a sheen to reflect. Eva hesitated; she gave the shop a quick look-around. The nude Iris at the counter had everyone's attention.

Bringing things into the mirrorverse was easy. Eva waved open hand, switching her perspective to the table leg, and reached out, bracing herself to keep the mirror extending, protecting her hand; had anyone been looking in the real world, they'd have seen a hand as reflective as the chair leg suddenly emerge from it and grab onto Iris's coat.

And then the hand pulled back, and the coat was sucked through into the mirror. It landed on Eva's lap; she quickly threw it to the side, switching her view back to the better sight of Jitters. Iris had her cardboard cup now, and held it over her breasts, her other hand between her legs. She was shaking enough Eva thought she might drop the cup.

Then she shrieked when she saw her coat was gone. Eva rested her hands on her legs, fingertips digging into her thighs, unable to look away.

Iris was rooted to the spot, trembling, naked, and looking all around Jitters in a panic - clearly she'd thought one of the customers had taken her jacket. Eva saw no reason to disabuse her of that notion.

"Does... does anyone have a coat I can borrow?" Iris stammered.

Her voice was small; she probably meant it to come out louder. As it was, no one answered, too busy staring at the nude journalist.

Iris whimpered. She quickly paced over to her table, as if she'd find the coat had simply slipped down. Then she put the cup down on it, turned to face the door to Jitters, and ran out.

Eva tried to follow her, watching through windows, but it was hard to keep up and keep track when she was sprinting as fast as she could, running nude all the way home.

Still, Eva reflected, as she pulled back from the window, she'd consider that a success. She'd seen almost everything she'd wanted to, and had an excuse to order the duplicate Iris to do all manner of similar things in future.

The mental image of Iris nude in the middle of Jitters played behind her eyes together. Eva pressed her legs together, squirming. Maybe it was time to return to the even-more-private vicinity of her room.

She glanced sideways at the coat. Well, she probably ought to discard that first. Dimly, part of Eva wondered how things would have turned out if she'd realised she could steal clothing and repair materials from the real world before she'd spent a few years here. Either way, she didn't want Iris to find any spare clothes.

After taking care of that, though, she was definitely looking forward to some alone time.

Iris was laying in. Eva vaguely remembered her early days being like that when she did anything more strenuous than pacing around a lab; the adjustment to the mirror dimension was always overwhelming.

Eva scratched her arm, daydreaming about what she'd seen through the mirror again. She wondered how many people had seen Iris as she'd run home in just her boots.

She heard footsteps. Speaking of... Eva turned around, remembering how thoroughly she'd ruined Iris's top the last night. That felt like so long ago. Still, she was curious...

When Iris walked in, she was wearing her pants like normal, the dark skin of her inner thighs increasingly visible. Her top, meanwhile, had unfortunately not been discarded; rather, she'd taken to wearing it more like a bib, the arms knotted around her neck and the rest trailing over her breasts, offering a generous view of her back and the side of her chest while mostly still keeping her technically decent.

Eva licked her lips, then caught herself.

"More wear and tear?" Eva said innocently.

"A little," Iris said.

Eva looked away. Okay, Iris wasn't totally naked yet, but it was only a matter of time. Besides, she could see it whenever she wanted.

What's next?
