Echo (Dollhouse)

Echo is a fictional character on the TV series Dollhouse. She is portrayed by actress Eliza Dushku.

Her original name was Caroline Farrell. In the first episode of the series, she makes a deal with Adelle DeWitt, who is the highest-ranking official at the Los Angeles Dollhouse (an operation owned by the evil Rossum Corporation). As a result of that deal, Caroline is sentenced to serve five years as an "Active" or a "doll", one of a group of men and women who can be programmed with memories and skills to engage in particular assignments, some of which are of an obvious sexual nature. As a result of her sentence, Caroline's memories are wiped and she is known primarily by her new name Echo. In her default state, she is innocent, childlike and suggestible.

Eventually she starts to develop self-awareness and eventually develops a fully formed self, personality, and the combined skills and abilities of all her many personalities, which she uses in her struggle against the Rossum Corporation.
