Dining Room

The shabby wooden door opened with a creak, opening up into the room with a large rectangular table. Despite the door looking positively ancient, the room itself was furnished surprisingly nicely. The table was covered in a fine silk cloth, china and silverware set exactly the same at each seat. There were a number of trays on the table, though as they were covered, Mackenzie couldn't tell if there was any food on them. The candlesticks lining the table all glowed with a soft, flickering light, and the dim room was further darkened by the heavy red curtains across the windows. Aside from the layer of dust and cobwebs, it was a rather luxurious dining room.

Mackenzie slowly walked into the room, jumping slightly as the door shut behind her with a click. The chairs looked inviting enough as she passed them- and despite the sense of foreboding, it wasn't as if she had come in here not to be scared. Still, perhaps more interesting than the room itself was the door at the other end of it. In the dark room, Mackenzie could see light creeping in from underneath it, and even through the heavy wood, she could hear the soft clinking of pots and pans.
