Chapter 5 by IGankMid IGankMid

Wisdom, or Cunning?

Cunning

You think long and hard about what you want to do. A real Kitsune would be a master of illusions and very wise... but it's hard to be smart when you're dead. There's only one way to survive out here, and that's with Cunning.

You tip your nose at Tinkles and turn around. The pink ball of light bobs up and down, wanting to follow you out of the grove. Any other day you'd welcome the company, but right now you need to be sneaky. You nip at the pink ball a few times to get the message across: Play later, not now.

If you remember right, there are probably still two dumb adventurers stomping around your foxhole waiting for their tank to come back. That Dark Elf scares you a little, since archers seemingly always made quick work of foxes. The healer, on the other hand, would be easy pickings. If you take down the Dark Elf first, you'd be able to play all kinds of tricks on the healer.

A few minutes of sneaking leads you back to your home-in-the-ground, complete with trespassers. The Dark Elf is brooding with her back against a tree, and the healer is worrying a few feet away. They're both oblivious- and unaware prey is the best kind.

You give your prey a once-over. The Dark Elf has dark (of course) bluish-gray skin, with long white hair that flows down the the small of her back. She'd make a bad meal; the only meat on her bones is on her chest and butt, which her outfit highlights (is she trying to show off for hungry wolves?). She's wearing a tight suit of cured black leather, just barely counting as armor. Metal buttons run all the way up and down her clothes, holding it together as well as providing a little bit of reinforcement. It's clearly there for looks and not protection, though it could also be her silly way of trying to be stealthy. Silly elves, stealth is for foxes.

The healer is wearing a simple white, hooded novice's robe that covers her from head to toe. You can't see anything beneath it, but you catch a whiff of scented oils and burned candles. Ugh. People in robes always smell funny.

You wonder if your Steal ability works outside of combat. If you can steal a few items from the Ranger before you fight, the whole thing might go a lot easier. Maybe you'll steal her quiver?

You sneak up behind the Ranger and prepare to snitch!

What do you end up stealing?
