Chapter 7 by Cantalope Cantalope

What's next?

A completely different girl (Turkish)

He smiled at the nervous looking girl. She had this strange vibe around her, like "girl next door" meets "catholic school girl."

"Yeah, I think so. Thanks."

They stood there for a moment awkwardly before she suddenly blabbered a few unintelligible sentences and avoided his gaze.

"...Sorry? Run that by me again?"

She took a deep breath, "I was wondering if you know how to program in Python."

Josh blinked. He knew a lot about it, in fact it was a big part of his job, but how had she known that?

"Dr. Smith said you might be a good tutor...?"

It clicked. "Oh... You're in Wally's class?" You'd worked with Dr. Wallace Smith a few years back on a University project, she must be one of his students.

She nodded, looking relieved, "Yes. Sorry. I'm having some trouble getting it and Dr. Smith said you might be willing to help me? I could pay you..." She petered off again and Josh smiled reassuringly at the nervous girl.

"I'd love to help you out. When is a good time for you?"

She swallowed, "Um. Whenever you have time. I'm free after 5:00 today or tomorrow or whenever-"

"After 5:00 sounds great. I'm Josh by the way." He held out his hand and after a moment she took it, almost reverentially. Wow, this girl has some of the most intense social anxiety he'd ever seen. She looked almost panicked when he shook her hand.

"...and yours?"

"Azra! Sorry. Thank you so much!"

He arranged to meet her at her place, which happened to be not far from his own apartment, and bid the nervous girl farewell. On the way home he noticed... a lot of very unusual behavior. Stripperific costumes, literal flocks of scantily clad girls, he even spotted a woman on a leash! "The hell...? Did Burning Man come to town or something?" Also Asians. A whole lot of Asians. He even spotted a few incredibly well endowed middle eastern women. Vowing to keep his eyes on the road after he almost crashed, ogling a milf and her daughter, he made a beeline back to his apartment.

He didn't really remember the city being so... diverse. He wasn't complaining or anything but it almost felt like he was in the minority. As a man. Scratching his head, Josh unloaded his car and jogged up the stairs to his home.
