Chapter 3 by RadioGalaxy RadioGalaxy

How do you plan to kill a hero?

"Its a trap!..."

Having found a small cavern on one of the lower levels of the caves that would suit your purposes you get to work setting up your trap. The cave was a wide open almost round room with a suspended mine cart track running between two large opening far above the cavern floor. This was one of the only places in the caves where a low level mid boss dwelled, A huge 12 foot stone golem. The golem stood directly under the tracks over the cavern and was entirely immobile until some adventuring party found their way inside the doorway immediately in front of where it faced.

You knew that most adventurers that came down this far were not very high leveled and came to gain XP rather than to farm since it was easier and more profitable to just kill the monsters in the upper floors in the long run. It was also the only place someone like you could think of to set a trap. The tracks running along near the roof of the cavern was only barely low enough for a cart to not clip the roof, and on either side hung stalactites of varying size and length.

It was easy for one of your small stature to walk along the track and find some of the larger hanging spikes and whittle at the base with some whacks from your club. It took quite awhile but after a couple slip-ups and resounding booms when some fell and impacted the ground around the golem, you had several stalactites ready and waiting for a single hit to fall on any unsuspecting "heroes." Just have to wait for a few jerks to walk in here looking for a fight, and take them out when they're tired from the fight heh... hehehe... You think to yourself, grinning like some kind of predator. You're Elated that you'd thought this up and you are close to dancing with glee, until a loud sound of metal against stone jars you from your internal celebration.

Suddenly a glimmer of soft pale yellow light spilled over then floor in front of the cavern's main entrance, casting dark shadows over the imposing golem. The light grew steadily brighter as sounds of at least a couple of boots could be heard scuffling against the stone floor, until with a small flash the entire cavern was painted in the same pale whitish-yellow light. Standing just outside the entrance are a party of four adventurers all looking slightly weary and not in the best of shape after the long trek down to this level.

There are two males and two females standing in no real formation, and one female is being pushed forward with the light shining forth from her staff. One male is a human barbarian almost as large as some of your minotaur brothers and just as little clothing, with muscles to match and bleeding from two or three gashes in his abdomen and he is pushing a medium-sized wizard of some sort (her exact race and build hidden beneath tattered blue robes and a baggy hood,) ahead of the party with the butt of his massive dual-headed axe. The other male, a dwarven rogue by the looks of the many daggers strapped to his leather armor, had his arm wrapped about the waist of the other female. The final party member could only be described as some sort of halfling bimbo archer, with the typical build of slender arms and legs, tiny hourglass figure with wide hips, a waist you could probably fit one hand around and huge breasts straining her revealing leather shirt which is a size or two small on her. To complete the look she had silky blond hair in curls down her back, and an almost idiotic look on her decently pretty face which stretches her pillowy red lips in a lazy smile.

You are ashamed a bit that the moment you see her you feel a large twitch underneath your loincloth but, putting it out of your mind you turn your attention to the mage. Not much can be seen of her except her staff, a tall wooden stick capped at the bottom with some kind of metal and at the top gnarled with the wood wrapping around a brightly glowing orb. Not much can be seen of the woman herself but you can tell she is about human height, and obviously not treated very well by her party as the dwarf and halfling are laughing at her being manhandled by the barbarian. She could be a problem with her long range and your obvious lack of magical defence, but you doubt you could take any of them but her single handedly anyway.

There is only a moment left to decide, fight or flight?

Time to decide: Spring your trap, or Flee
