The City That Never Sleeps

Modern, Erotic, Fantasy Tales

Chapter 1 by Vagabond12 Vagabond12

The moon hangs high in the sky, the light hitting the clouds making them almost glow with an ethereal glow. It's light shining down through the jagged skyline of the city. Buildings so tall they seem to puncture the clouds in some cases. Others smaller, cosier. Through the streets, despite the time, there's a constant bustle of activity. The city is renown for it's nightlife, with people coming from all around to dance in clubs, gamble their life savings away in casinos, or just drink their sorrows away in one of the many bars.

As far as most residents of the city are concerned, their home is rather mundane, with the exception of a particularly rowdy nightlife. People seem to flock from all parts of the world to enjoy nights filled with dancing, drinking, gambling and other carnal pleasures. Perhaps the rather unusual name of the city drew them in. Nocturne. A rather odd name for a city, but one that was easily marketable and distinct.

What most residents are unaware of however, is that Nocturne is far from an ordinary city. Supernatural beings have resided here for centuries, hiding their presence from mortal eyes, yet enjoying toying with them when they have the chance. Magic is a fundamental part of the city, whether the mortals realise it or not. Most supernatural beings are content with hiding, while others seek to dominate and control their mortal counterparts. These beings exist with magic coursing through their bodies which can either serve as great, magical boons. Or nefarious curses which can completely change the way that they live.

Not all beings with supernatural traits were born that way. Others cursed or gifted with these traits by another. Of course, those mortals who do find themselves affected or afflicted with magical traits and decide to try to reveal the presence of the unnatural world, quickly get written off as addicts or delusional lunatics. Either that, or they go missing, or are found to suddenly change their outlook on life. Depending on who they threaten to expose that is.

In a city home to magic, supernatural creatures, myths, curses and spirits, there are endless tales to tell. So. Which one would you like told?

Which Tale to Tell?
