It was a nice summer morning. Kazuma was walking to high school. This was the start of his third and final year in high school. His academic life had been doing well, with excellent marks in most areas. The part of high school life he had not done well in was the social aspect. Sure, he did have friends and they would occasionally hang out, but he had no luck in the dating scene. He was not great at approaching girls. The only time he tried to ask someone out was with a letter in her locker, with a request to meet him somewhere at the school later that day. Not only did she not show up, she put a post on social media of her hanging out with her friends at the exact time Kazuma had ask to meet her.

Kazuma remembered back to how devastated he felt after that incident, as he approached a turn on the way to school. After the turn, Satsuki's house came into view, and he saw her standing outside waiting for him.

"Morning Kazuma," she waved. Satsuki had been a childhood friend of Kazuma's as far as he could remember. He had thought of asking her out several times, but never got the courage to do it. He didn't want to ruin the friendship they had. She did comfort him after the love letter failed.

Though, today, she seemed different. She wasn't exactly her usual cheerful self.

"Morning Satsuki. And happy birthday," Kazuma greeted as he approached.

"Listen," she began. "Could you come by my house after school? There is something I'd like to show you."

"Sure," Kazuma replied. "Was it something you got for your birthday?" Satsuki enjoyed playing video games, so might be a new game she received as a gift.

"Something like that" she answered.

The school day went like any other school day. Just the average first day of the semester. Kazuma didn't see Satsuki much during the day, as they were in different classes.
