Mandatory Medical

Mandatory Medical

The pre-military examination

Chapter 1 by Arko Arko

After compelting the national curriculum, 19 - 20 year olds of Reisland must embark in a mandatory two year minimum military training. All Reislanders recieve a letter the day they turn 19. But before they can take part in their training they must first pass a medical exam. Summoned to the nearest military facility, trainees are expected to complete tests and provide samples to ensure they are eligible, law-abiding and physically fit for training.

Most already know all about the country's mandated training, but it doesn't make it any less easy to swallow. Leaving your entire life behind and putting your dreams on hold for two years can feel restricitive, let alone leaving behind family, if lucky trainees may find themselves training with friends from educational institutes, but this is not guaranteed.

Of course those who are found ineligible for whatever reason, may find the alternative somewhat grueling. Failing the medical exam can only lead to one outcome in what some have come to call 'the indoctrination'. In camps little better than prisons, rejected trainees are trained relentlessly until they pass the examination.
