Arizelle Chronicles

Welcome to the Arizelle Chronicles. I decided that instead of creating all these different stories that take place in Arizelle, I should just build one for them all. This is a world full of fantastical people, creatures and magic, separated by different kingdoms.

To start off with, I'll tell you how this universe came to be. In the beginning there was a single god called Anu the Maker. Anu created the world of Arizelle. Then he spawned the Light Gods and the Dark Gods who warred with each other.

Accounts of what happened during this war and even what side Anu took differ. Some say that the Light Gods had rebelled against Anu and imprisoned him and that the Dark Gods seek to free him.

Others say that it was the Dark Gods who considered the mortal races unworthy and sought to cause misery to them, rebelling against Anu themselves. According to that legend, Anu still sits upon of the throne of the gods.

Others believe that Anu took no side and simply left Arizelle to its own devices.

Some, mainly the Dwarves, believe that Anu never even existed and that both the Light and Dark Gods were originally mortals who found the means to become divine.

As for Arizelle, there are five continents.

• The Northern Continent Lands where humans originated from
• The Southern Continent Lands where Elves originated from
• The Eastern Continent of Barbarta
• The West Lands where more humans originated from
• And finally, Briteros

Briteros lies within the centre of the five continents. The land originally belonged to the Beast Races until the divine race of Elves arrived from the Southern continent and conquered them.

Again accounts differ. While the Elves deny such a thing, most believe that they enslaved the Manbeasts and even wiped out most of them, leaving only cat people and lizard folk. As punishment for their actions, the Light Gods stripped the Elves of their immortality.

The Elves argue that the humans tricked the Light Gods. The Elves hid the loss of their immortality to the point that even many Elves still believed themselves immortal. To maintain this lie, every Elven King would take the name Draugr.

Later humans from both the Northern and Western continents would journey to Briteros where they would be enslaved by the Elves just like the Beast Races. According to the Elves, the humans had tried to invade them.

Eventually Elves sympathetic to the plight of humans and Manbeasts revealed that their kind had lost their immortality long ago. This led to Conan Octavian Augustus, the human son of a dragon (though some believe he might have actually been half-Elf), leading a rebellion against the Elves.

Despite humans being less prone to magical abilities than the Elves, they won. The latest Elven King Vigo Draugr was slain and became an undead being who who slay warriors and add them to his army. As for what happened to the Elves who helped the humans and Beast Races, the Elves say that the humans turned on them.

The humans deny this. However it is known that the Elves that were unable to escape west to the Lauterndell Island off the coast of Briteros were enslaved by the humans who took power. Either way, the Elves were no longer able to deny their own mortality.

Five Elven noble families that fled to Lauterndell turned to the Dark Gods in the hopes of regaining their immortality. The Dark Gods turned those those Elves into Dark Elves. The remaining Elves become known as High Elves.

The Dark Elves enslaved many High Elves and Lizardfolk and journeyed east to the Dwarven mountains east of Briteros known as Underdokk, home to the Dwarves. As Dwarves do not possess magic, the Dark Elves were easily able to invade and enslave them.

Within the mountains the Dark Elves discovered the means to become gods themselves. Two of the noble families viewed this as sacrilege towards the Dark Gods. The heads of those families were killed by the other three families, the heads of which became Dark Gods themselves.

The three families mutated their High Elf and Lizard slaves and the Dark Elves that sided against them into the Orc race to be used as slaves. However many of the Orcs escaped and began to worship the Dark Gods themselves.

Meanwhile, Conan became king and conquered most of Briteros and began the Briteros Empire and Conan Dynasty that began the ban of magic as it was most prone among the Elves that enslaved them. According to the Conan Dynasty, magic was created by the Dark Gods and has a corrupting influence.

The Church of Light was formed to deal with magic users. Most of them were taken from their families and drafted into the Church of Light. Many of these mages served as Court Mages. The Church also took child outcasts and mutated them into beings called Vedmaks, or Slayers, enhanced beings trained to kill monsters.

The High Elves created the Mage Guild on Lauterndell so their people could learn to control magic.

However Conan was not able to control all of Briteros so he allowed King Sigurd to conquer North Briteros with his 300 companions.

Conan also formed the Templar Order as a military unit to safeguard humanity. Unfortunately, the Order proved too fanatic. While Caesar only wanted the Elves enslaved to prevent them from harming humans and the Beast Races, the Templars sought to wipe out both all the non-human races.

Upon his , many believe that Conan Augustus became a Light God though the Elves disagree.

Eventually, Conan's descendant became a tyrant who executed the father and brother of Arthur Titus Stark.

Arthur was contacted by an organisation called the Black Hand who gave him the location of the Sword of Emperors. With the sword, Arthur led a ten year rebellion against the Mad King and killed him, taking the throne for himself.

Arthur would go on to have five children to prevent a power vacuum in the event of his .

Meanwhile, many adventurers decided to form a guild as a way of networking. The criminal element of Briteros decided to try something similar, forming the Dark Guild.

Meanwhile on Lauterndell, the High Elves seek to exterminate the other races.
