Chapter 34 by simmaster simmaster

What do you choose?

Wild Werewolf

You had been relying quite a bit on your smarts until now, but it wasn't like you had a choice. You hadn't been strong enough to solve your problems with brute ****. Now that would change... And losing your pack wasn't that important, the option even states that you'll get it back later, and they were mostly just weaker links to look out for... You choose Wild Werewolf.

And then you double over and roar in pain. You've grown several times before, but this was... different. It was like transforming into a werewolf when you already WERE in your werewolf form, except the normal rather painless feeling was replaced with excruciating pain. As the growing reaches its climax, you howl in agony against the sky. A howl that sounds a lot louder and more impressive than before.

You look your new body over. And wow... You're putting human bodybuilders to shame with your muscles! In addition to that, your claws look sharper and are almost the size of your fingers! You can feel that your teeth have grown as well, maybe even in amount, and your skull feels thicker. In fact, all of you feels thicker. Sturdier. Stronger. The ground also seems further away... You estimate you must be at least nine feet tall now!

You open up your stats again to see the change.

Your questgiver status has been revoked due to your loss of human form.

Huh... That is quite a change. An awesome change! You got a huge boost to your melee attack, your regeneration doubled in efficiency, your tracking and roar got a little stronger, and you gained three neat abilities to replace your loss of alpha abilities. No longer having a pack is of course a bummer, but it's worth it. Same for the questgiver privileges you also lost, as well as your name. You try not to think of it as a bad thing, but as you finally transitioning into being a full monster rather than a lame, part-time NPC. Still, losing your name at least stings a little... You kind of like the name Mikael. Oh well, nothing says you can't keep calling yourself that just because it's not your official name anymore.

There was also supposed to be an intelligence reduction, but you don't feel a lot dumber... Maybe you would notice that later on.

Then your newly even more heightened senses notify you of someone attempting to run away from the camp. Ilimia.

You try out your new Padded Feet ability by leaping off the cliff, excited to find that you take almost no damage from landing, and then you run after Ilimia. And boy, you are FAST! Sure, you were pretty fast before, but now... Wow.

You leap into her, knocking her to the ground, and turn her over while crouching over her, removing her helmet just to see her expression. And she's terrified. Terrified and speechless, her mouth hanging open and rapidly moving slightly as if trying and failing to say something.

Come to think of it... She probably got some of the XP from killing those heroes, since you were sharing XP up until now that your quest privileges were revoked and your quest was most likely cancelled. Maybe you should kill her to get a bit more... Or perhaps you can find better uses for her...

Déjà vu...
