What if... Natasha Romanov is mind controlled

Natasha Romanov.

The Black Widow.

The dream, or nightmare, of many men and women on this planet.

Raised in a place known only as the Red Room. A place where young girls were turned into deadly assassins who are not only merciless killing machines but also the perfect infiltrators, spies and seductresses.

Once there were dozens of Black Widows, but Natasha somehow managed to escape the mind control of the Red Room. Although Natasha possesses no superpowers worth mentioning, her endurance, agility and resilience may seem supernatural, but they are only the result of rigorous training, she has managed to shake off the Red Room's indoctrination through an unshakable will.

Each Black Widow had been mentally worked on until they were almost will-less objects, living only for the Red Room's order. Each order was carried out with maximum efficiency without a thought for things like morals or ethics.

In addition, triggers were deeply embedded in the consciousness of the Widows that were able to manipulate them completely. No one knew about these triggers except the head of the Red Room. Therefore, Natasha's first goal had been to drive a bullet through the man's head as soon as she had freed herself. No one would ever be able to use those triggers against her again. Never again would she become someone else's loyal servant. From that day on, she would make all her own decisions.

Shortly after, she joined SHIELD, thanks to the help of an agent named Clint aka Hawkeye. From here on out, her life fundamentally changed. SHIELD used her unique talents just as the Red Room had, but the goals of SHIELD and Natasha were the same. She had long since realized that she would not be granted a normal life, she even enjoyed it, and knew that from now on she was on the right side.

Later she joined the Avengers and went from being an unknown agent to a worldwide known heroine and an idol for young women. She now wore the name Black Widow with pride and reverence, a remembrance of all the Widows before her and with the help of the other Avengers she took down the most powerful in the world.

Until the day everything changed.

Hawkeye's ****.

Someone had lured them into a trap with false information. Then they were suddenly attacked by combat robots whose design and capabilities were unknown to her. Clint was killed in the ensuing battle, while she miraculously escaped. An explosion blasted her through the wall of the building, directly into the Hudson River. Knowing there was nothing she could do for Clint, she vowed **** and fled from the attackers.

It had been three days and there was still no indication of who the attackers were, but Natasha suspected it could only be one of the major players. SHIELD, the Avengers and even the Fantastic Four were all helping as best they could to uncover the attacker and take **** for Clint's ****.

For Natasha, this was an extremely personal thing. Clint was her best and oldest friend. She would kill anyone who stood in her way to get to his killer. At least that's what she told herself, but in reality she knew she wasn't that kind of Natasha anymore. She would play by the rules and just inflict unending torment on the person for the rest of their life.

On the fourth day, she got a call on her private cell phone. Only Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark knew this number, so she answered it without thinking.

As she had the phone to her ear she heard some static followed by an artificial voice.

Her eyes glazed over and her body relaxed without her realizing it as she answered.
