Chapter 7 by Blackhand Blackhand

Who are you meeting?

Toroqu, An Orcish Barbarian King

Your kingdom, the land of Telia, is among the most prestigious and refined nations of the continent. Your people are well-educated, refined, and a bastion of culture. Plays from your playwrights are performed far and wide. Court fashion among your subjects are widely emulated in foreign lands. Your nation's position on a fertile plane, criss-crossed with navigable rivers, allows your people plenty of food and easy means to trade with your nations.

It's a position that other, lesser, peoples naturally covet. While your central planes are well-secured, your nations armies are frequently involved with conflicts against northern barbarians. Human tribes occasionally make fuss, but are no match for the steel of your knights.

The most dangerous barbarians are not human at all. Orcs. Fearsome tribes of bloodthirsty savages who live in the mountains and hunger for the wealth of settled civilizations. They moved into the region several centuries prior and turned the micro-nations of the barren north into subjugated tributaries. The weaker nations had **** but to buy them off with gold baubbles, local luxuries, and a constant supply of maidens. A girl selected as a "gift" for the barbarians can expect to be added to the treasures of an Orcish Warlord, as much his possession as any conquest.

The nation the Orcs yearn for most is your own. They nakedly hunger for it's treasure...and to teach the refined ladies of Tellia what superior, green cock feels like. The wars with them are often brutal, with thousands dead. Raids from Orcs in the north can leave a trail of devastation in their wake, often with the wives and daughters of the country-folk vanished forever.

However, the people of the northern cities have long lived in relative safety, even from the fearsome orcs. Orcish raiders know they cannot overcome the splendid walls your builders create. The Barbarians are a troublesome, violent problem. Yet, a contained one.

Still, the animosity between your people and the orcs runs deep. The vast number of dead, the lands despoiled, the loved ones swept up never to be seen again. The refined, wealthy people of Tellia hate the violent orcs and would never trust their intentions.

Which is why it had been such a scandal when you invited Torqu, the new Orcish King, to come and seek your hand in marriage.

Why did you do such a thing?
