  2. The app by Valentine

The app. That’s all it is ever called. A magical mystical amazing app, a life-ruiner, a game-changer, a gambler’s wet dream, a gambling addict's worst nightmare. The app could be installed on any phone and, when opened displayed a single large button in the center of the screen. Pressing the button would come up with the prompt “Are you sure?” with the choices “Yes'' and “Coward”. If you pressed coward the app would uninstall from your phone and could never be downloaded again on any phone you owned. If you pressed yes then it would prompt you to pick to categories, there were a huge number of categories from “Hair” to “Speech Patterns'' to “Profession” to “Behavior” to “Intelligence”. Once two were selected a third would be added at random. Then the app would spin the wheel of infinite possibilities before landing on a result for all three categories. At this point the world would shift around the person who pressed the button and whatever results they had gotten would be applied to their life. For some this was a massive improvement. Everyone knew about the stinking bum who had used the app and become a genius CEO (of course no one mentioned the fact that he lost 2 feet of height as part of the deal) and it seemed like everyone had at least one friend from High School who had tried the app and suddenly become, cooler, sexier, smarter, and happier. Of course along with the success stories came the horror stories, kind housewives who became fake titted prostitute sluts, successful businessmen who lost their job, their family, and their looks through a bad roll. Yet despite these risks people are still drawn to the app, it is consistently the number one most downloaded app in the world and everyday it seems some new story comes out about someone using the app. Rules of the app: 1.)In order to use the app a person must simply download it and press the button. Yes must then be selected and two categories must be chosen. The third category will be chosen at random. 2.)If no category is selected within 10 minutes after pressing yes then it will default to random. The categories do not have to be selected by the person who presses yes. 3.)The app can change literally anything about a person although some options can only be selected through random. 4.)Different categories impose various levels of risk the riskier the category the closer it comes to even odds of a good result. For instance “Intelligence” has about even odds of you becoming smarter or dumber while “fasion” has only about 10% odds of you getting very good results with the other 90% being what most people would consider bad. 5.)The app can be used multiple times however there is no set number of times it can be used. It will uninstall itself when someone has used it enough times that it decides they no longer may use it. 6.)The app is magical, there are no limits to how the changes can be however changes beyond the human norm are exceedingly rare. 7.)The app can switch a person’s sex without sex being selected as a category if it decides that it is appropriate for the rest of the changes. 8.)Once a category has been selected once it cannot be manually selected again but it can still be selected by random. 9.)Once a person has been changed by the app reality reshapes around them. While people will be able to recall the old reality it will fade unless written down and they will be unable to change the results, so for instance if you were an accountant and then become a prostitute, you may be able to recall knowing how to balance spreadsheets but you will find yourself completely unable to actually do it. 10.)There is no situation so good the app can’t make it better or so bad the app can’t make it worse.

These are the stories of Lara Croft experiencing the highs and lows of life as an explorer and collector of magical trinkets. Albeit, probably not the stories you'll see in the games.
