Chapter 5

Who do you want to attack first?

The Dwarven Wizard

The dwarf seems to be the only one who you even have a chance of killing. He is low on health, and from what you hear of his complaints, he is also out of mana, leaving him almost defenceless if not for the staff. A fight with any of the other three would probably end quick anyway. You put your left shoulder against the stump and peak around the side to see them walking along the path. You can hear the dwarven wizard arguing on and receiving no egnolegment as the orcish barbarian and elven ranger talk to the human fighter. You understand basic human speak, though some who come through speak in tougnes you can't. Lucky for you, these speak English. "How much exp do these rats give us again?" The orc says, lifting his hammer off the crushed carcass that was a skunk.

The fighter moves ahead of him with the dwarf close behind, getting closer to your stump. He replies "Bout ten, maybe fifteen per kill depending on how they die. And they're skunks, not rats, so watch for sprays. We'll farm these for a bit and head off for the Tryclops."

"Why are we farming these nasty things? There has to be something a little more pleasant smelling we could kill for exp." The ranger exclaims.

The fighter stops for a moment just after passing your stump and turns around, letting the dwarf bump into him and fall in the dust without a single reaction, dropping his glasses in the dirt. You get a better look of the fighter. "The Skunks are one of the best for farming. They barely last against one punch and give off the most exp of any other starting creature. And much safer to fight compared to the others types."

The ranger tries to give him a proposal as the the dwarf wipes the legs of his rob clean and scrubs his lenses with his right sleeve before putting them back on. "What about Tapir Wolves? They give off a lot of exp."

"Yes, but they also have short range teleportation, telekinesis, and deal psychic damage. Not exactly the best thing for noobs to farm. You hired me to help you level up fast, not to get slaughtered, so just take my advice. Trust me, you won't be griping 'bout their smell once you gain five levels." He replies. The dwarf's face is practically red with anger as he gets more irritated at the fighter's lack of response. He yells at the fighter, grabbing his glasses a few times as they fall from his nose, for a potion of any kind: mana, health, he'd even take stamina at this point, but the fighter refuses to talk or confirm the dwarf's exsistance. He steps forward as the dwarf passes the stump and stops parallel to you to scream curses and loud profanity. None of them seem to have noticed you yet and the dwarf is just a few feet away. The opportunity couldn't be any better. This was the best moment to attack.

What do you attack with?
