Thankfully Not

After an hour or so of trying to get to sleep, you give up and go for a midnight snack. As you rummage through the fridge, you hear window break. Turning your head, you see a man crawl through the kitchen window, over the sink. You rush to the knife block and grab the biggest knife you can get your hand on. The man falls to the ground as you shout "Get the fuck out."

The man lets out a long groan as he stands up. You step back, your hand trembling.

"I said get the fuck out." Your voice also quivers, betraying your fear.

The man's arms reach out for you as you continue to retreat.

"John. What's going on?" Nicole calls out.

"Call the cops."

Somehow, the man puts his hands on you so you thrust the knife at his face. The point plunges through his eye and into his brain, killing him in an instant. Panicking, you scramble back and flick the light on. This gives you a good view of the man and his decaying green-ish flesh.

"Holy fuck..." You mutter.

"John." Nicole calls out.

"What?"

"I can't get through to 911."

"Okay. Uhh... I'll come to you."

You head down the hallway. That's where you're met by Miranda who moans "What the hell is going on?"

"There... there was an intruder."

"What?"

"I think he was a zombie."

"Oh come on."

"I'm not kidding."

Nicole then enters the hallway, screaming at the sight of Miranda.

"It's okay Nicole. It's just Miranda." You say.

"Oh shit... What is she doing here?"

"He picked me up and dropped me off here for a place to sleep."

"Okay. So what's going on?"

"There was a zombie."

"Really?"

"He's just joking Nicole." Miranda interjects.

"I'm not kidding. Come look."

You lead the two girls to the kitchen and the zombie's body. Upon seeing the corpse, Nicole yelps before leaving the room. Miranda, however, stays.

"Oh my God..." She gasps.

"See?"

"Sorry for doubting you."

"Could you stay with Nicole? I'm gonna try and figure out what's going on."

"Okay. Be careful John."

"I will."
