You're lying on your side with your head under the covers and your back to Rowan. The mattress shifts as Rowan adjusts herself. You feel a little twinge or two. Not bad for a long day and night of moving band gear, slam-dancing, and fucking the lead singer off her feet. Twice.

"You were listening, Mona?" Rowan says. "I thought you went straight to bed."

"I did. You woke me up. I forgot how loud you are," Mona says.

"Yeah, I guess last time you were around, I'd kind of lost my voice," Rowan says.

"Well, I was tired," Mona says. "I was asleep when you two came to bed. You didn't figure out who was going to take the couch?"
