Squire

Tom’s service in the royal guard gave him some excellent connections, and none was more exciting to Alex than the possibility of being a squire to Sir Roderick, knight of the realm.

Alex could hardly contain his excitement as he waited for Tom’s correspondence to Roderick to catch up to him, but finally the day arrived when the proud knight rode up to Alex’s home and announced he was there to take on Alex as his squire.

Alex was overjoyed. To become a squire at the age of 18 was practically unheard of. Such an honor usually goes to boys four years younger than him, but now he had the rare opportunity to travel with Sir Roderick, assist him, and undergo training to some day become a knight, himself.

After a tearful farewell and many hugs and kisses from his mother, Alex mounted his horse and followed Roderick into his new life.

Alex prayed he would be found worthy of Roderick’s trust. No one becomes a knight unless he is beyond reproach, noble in all respects, and the very picture of dignity, chivalry, and honor.

As Alex’s home and old way of life fell into the distance, Roderick turned to his new squire and said, “Well, boy.... Let’s see how well you do in your first assignment for me. Where can a man find a nice piece of ass in these parts?”
