Chapter 13

Is that a trap I hear?

Sounds Like Experience

The sound of an arrow swishing down a hallway is unmistakable and you turn, hovering over your threshold and finding yourself in the tunnel again. You glide through the air and turn the corner of your small passage, eye-stalk peering over, and stare down at what's coming.

It's a trio of adventurers, players, and you recognize one of them immediately. It's the Barbarian from before, and this time he's brought friends. One is a female Rogue, a halfling if her height is any indication, and the third is a small Dwarven woman. The halfling is decked out in a leather coat and tight bodysuit, climbing over the traps and disarming them. She has a shapely figure for a halfling but a slight chest, with wild red hair fitted in all sorts of small bands and ties to try and contain what is a tangled mess. Her bright green eyes flash with enjoyment as she dances over the traps repeatedly, stopping in the center of the room to begin operating a small device, a trap disarm for the area.

The dwarven woman is odd. She is wearing a ruffled, aristocratic shirt with a high folded collar and her skin is darker than you'd expect, almost charcoal, with blood red hair and golden eyes. Her shirt is gray and she wears shapely, hip-clinging black pants along with a pair of tall boots. Off her waist hangs a...book? It's gilded in gold and silver, with a band of rings hanging off it that attach to her belt.

That'd make her a Scholar, then. They're a new class, supposedly meant to be a new playstyle but in reality they are buff bots, pure and simple. They have access to the best resistance and mitigation spells in the game at high levels and while they do possess some combat spells and healing spells, universally everyone derides those who don't keep buffs up at all times. She might even be a Duergar too, the dark dwarves, a practically unplayed race who's official lore the dev team seems to have completely abandoned.

It's like seeing a unicorn, but with her partners this isn't good. She can stop half of your damage from ever hitting and with the other two, the traps might not work so well...if she's prepared. As far as they know, they're going through a low level area to reach a higher level one. They aren't expecting an ambush, and traps deal consistent damage no matter the level.

How do you proceed?
