Chapter 7 by lolhappy250 lolhappy250

What did you get?

Some wizard shit

The loot that drew your eye's first was a pair of crystal balls. A red one, and grayish-blue one. They were offhand weapons for wizards, offering less stat boosting than books, but giving more direct boosts to attacks instead.

Well it was something. But could you even equip them?

After a kicking at the orbs for a while you eventually dropped your head on the blue-gray one in frustration. A moment later the orb vanished and you felt one of your horns curling tighter, eventually stopping at a hard object, a couple seconds later a gentle calming breeze could faintly be felt around the left side of your head.

You could only assume you managed to equip the orb, an wind element one, and that you were wearing it inside your horns, which were supposed to be weapons, but what ever. Must've been because they were still a part of your body.

You quickly did the same thing with the red orb, this time a soft warmth emanating around the right side of your head, a strange sensation when combined with the breeze, but pleasant.

You then brought up the item information menu;

Lesser crystal ball - Fire - 5 bonus damage - Add's fire element damage to all attacks. Grants chance to inflict burn with all attacks. Grants 50% extra bonus damage when using fire spells, 50% less damage when using ice spells.

Lesser crystal ball - Air - 5 bonus damage - Add's wind element damage to all attacks. Grants bonus to knock back. Grants 50% extra bonus damage when using wind spells, 50% less damage when using earth spells.

Well you didn't have any magic, but having the base bonuses added to your attacks would be helpful. Plus the magic based damage over time would work off your intelligence stat, which happened to be your highest one. Something you took pride in. After all, you might be a critter but you were ancient. You then got a little insulted by how it was just barely in the double digits.

It's just a stat right? It can't affect how smart you really are. Come to think of it though, you don't really now much beyond combat based effects and your meadow, as well as a bit of very basic lore, maybe that kind of information has very little pull on stats.

You decide to shake of the depressing thoughts that were making your head hurt.

Because you were thinking to hard stupid– nope, not going there again.

You quickly turned your attention to the rest of the loot.

There was a wizard's hat, the rogue had for some reason, probably looting every corpse she could find. You equipped that the same way as the crystal balls. The hat disappeared for a second before reappearing on your head, your horns poking through conveniently created holes, just the perfect size to fit around the base of your horns, yet unable to slip past the curve of them without deliberate effort to maneuver it off.

The hat gave a decent boost to intelligence, almost doubling your low amount. You didn't feel smarter though.

Intelligence as a stat definitely can't affect real knowledge. You shake your head trying to dislodge such thoughts, they weren't helping you.

Next up was a silver scarf, you almost didn't see it in all the dust. You picked it up in your mouth, and while trying to figure out how you were going to equip it the scarf seemed to come alive, shaking free from your mouth and heading straight for your neck like some sort of silk snake. Before you could even struggle the scarf had wrapped itself around your neck and just hung there limply.

"The fuck?" You belt out loud, a deep bass. Your own voice shook your own body to its core and honestly scared you. It was like something a dark knight would sound like, something to strike fear in those around you.

When you calmed down and realized it was just you talking which meant the scarf was an Echo Scarf. It allowed any creature to talk, including you. It was easy enough to dye all sorts of colors, a fairly common type of equipment, especially among tamers and summoners who relied heavily on pets. Though you were certain it went fabulously with your white wool. Even if it didn't match, you could probably pull it off, you're a sheep wearing a scarf, and a wizard hat for fuck sake.

"Who's the adorable cloud with legs now mother fuckers!." Your powerful voice boomed, shocking you far less this time.

Beyond what you had equipped the only things left were a couple lesser health potions, a berserk potion, and a lesser acid vial. It wasn't an amazing haul really, but it was something.

Now it was time to leave. If the rogue came back for ****, possibly with the ranger you'd be in trouble, hell, if any heroes showed up you couldn't guarantee you'd be able to kill them the same way. You needed to be able to get the upper hand, and that required a change of pace.

Your choices would be one of the four territories that surrounded your meadow, all filled with level nine creatures, and all were hostile to you, being that you were a critter and not a legitimate monster like them.

But there was also the trapdoor, a wild card. Your lesser acid vial was tiny compared to the one the rogue threw at you earlier, so you doubted it was going to help with anything other than dealing with the lock on the trapdoor. Still, it might be a waste. You might even get lucky again and have some newbie hero manage to escape the monsters and seek refuge in your meadow or something, it's happened a couple times before. When you couldn't attack.

You've gotta do something...
