Scene 1 - Contrast

The film opens on a shot of the clouds before cutting to a wide drone shot of an overcast Seattle morning before finally introduction us to Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) followed by Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), all the while the opening credits role and the song, 'I Put a Spell on You' by Annie Lennox plays over the soundtrack.

The scene switches back & forth between them - engaging in their typical morning routines in order to show how they contrast from each other.

The contrast here shows them engaging in different forms of sex - Anastasia engaging in boring vanilla missionary sex with Jose (Victor Rasuk), while Christian engages in hardcore BDSM sex with a nameless call-girl (Lena Paul in her film debut). He fucking her reverse cowgirl, mercilessly drilling into her cunt as she's tied up and has electric shock nipple clamps attached to her breasts. While Anna forces a shallow smile, Christian is enjoying himself very much.

The scene goes on for another 7 minutes before finally climaxing when they do - although Christian's is more spectacular while Anna's is more underwhelming.
