7-9: Take the early shift at the diner and meet the dairy delivery

"Well, hey Mary, long time," says Buck, the dairy truck driver. He's wearing his usual white uniform with his name on a patch on his chest and has his blond beard trimmed short like your husband Brian. More than once Buck's delivered not just the diner's dairy supplies, but also delivered his trusty wiener to you when your husband's been away. "Your man in town?"

"My honeybear's still on his way, hon," you tell him. Brian had come in late and was sleeping in the trucking office or maybe his sleeper cab. "You have time for a personal delivery?"

Buck scratches his beard. "Ah, I've got a helper today, Jamie," he says.

"Well, we'll just see how things go, hon," you tell him. "At least it should go faster."

"Hi, Ms. Mary," Jamie greets you. "I'm actually Jaime, you know? But I go by Jamie at work."

Buck's young helper has a kind of swing in his speech that backs up "Jaime" rather than "Jamie". He's got the same white uniform with "JAMIE" instead of "BUCK", but Jamie has a compact frame, not a big bear like Buck or your husband. He's got black hair and light gold skin, and a few scars on his knuckles.

"You from the city, hon?" you ask him as the two of you unload crates into the diner's walk-in fridge.

"Yes, ma'am," he says, "Out here to make a new start."

"Buck tell you anything special about making deliveries here?" you ask.

"Oh yeah, he brag on you," Jamie says. "I promise not to tell."

"Oh dear," you say. "Buck shouldn't lay that on you. He either shouldn't say, or shouldn't make you promise."

"It's cool, ma'am, I thought it was kind of sweet," Jamie says.

"Well, it is sweet," you tell him. "I know I can count on good folks like Buck to keep me warm when my man's far away."

"You were hoping today, ma'am?" Jamie asks.

"I was," you say, giving him a smile. "Were you?"

Jamie hangs his head and blushes.

"Oh, hon," you say. "Go get Buck, let's get the order signed."

You stand with Buck and Jamie in the walk-in fridge, ticking off the order on the clipboard, and sign it received for the diner.

"Now, gentlemen," you say. "That takes care of business." You lick your lips. "I have some other business for you."

Buck begins to protest.

"No, hon," you say. "Time for a personal delivery. Out with your wieners."

Buck and Jamie don't argue. They yank their trousers open and free their wieners. Buck's is a nice size, just as you remember, and Jamie's is almost as big. Looks bigger on a smaller man. Your eyes widen to see he's got some kind of tattoo along the top of his wiener, but you can't make out the letters. Jamie shivers a little in the chill of the walk-in cooler, but Buck has more insulation and is more used to it.

"There you go, honeybuns," you tell them. "Bless you for bringing those to me. Now tell me what you want, fellas."

The chill finally gets the best of them, and their wieners start softening.

"I d-dunno," Buck says.

"Oh, hon, put yourselves away, let me get you some coffee," you tell them.

You usher Buck and Jamie out by way of the men's room to wash their hands, and set them up at the counter. This early, you're still the only one in.

After you've got the fellows warmed up, you pop the question again. "Hon, I do want that personal delivery. Jamie, hon, I'd love you to watch."

"Hon, Jamie said you told him what you do for me," you tell Buck. "You do me good, hon. You let me touch Heaven. How could that be a bad thing."

You keep talking up Buck until both Buck and Jamie are laughing.

"Now, honeybuns, let's go on back to the storage room. No cooler this time!" you tell them.
