Camp Councilor

The camp councilor seemed like an easy enough job for her; she could relax most of the time and have the kids run off to do whatever. Long days in the sun, a lake to swim in, breath taking vistas, it all sounded very enticing. Jamie made her final decision and called the listed number where the voice of a man picked up on the other end and told her to come by the local office for an interview. She quickly got properly dressed for her interview and went down to the address she was given.

When she arrived at the small one story building, she could see the man sitting at a desk inside surrounded by camp symbols and camping equipment. Inside she was seated before him as she asked her questions of her job experience. Jamie listed her lack of such things and her inexperience with handling kids. The man didn't seem to mind and thought that it might give her an opportunity to learn and grow so he gave her the job. After shaking hands, he gave her some needed camping supplies, a councilor's guidebook, a uniform, and a brochure that offered more information about the camp itself.

When she arrived back home, she focused on getting her bags packed for next week and stuffed one while suitcase with her beauty products. The next was filled with actual outdoor supplies which she'd stocked up on alongside the ones she was given. And the final suitcase was packed with outfit after outfit, all fit for the warm weather as well as some fro the cold mornings and nights; and she made sure to pack a few bathing suits as well.

Now it was just a matter of waiting until next Friday when camp would start and she'd be able to leave. That night she told her parents if her new job who congratulated her and celebrated with a feast while the servants of the house celebrated with a party, thankful that Jamie would be gone for months. The next few days were long and full, filled with hours of tv, internet browsing, and staving off boredom. As time passed and options ran out, she finally decided to start reading the camp materials. The brochure painted a lovely picture of the lakeside camp and all that it had to offer with its cozy cabins and beautiful surrounding wilderness. Then it came time to look at the manual which was filled with boring sentence after sentence of camp guiudlines. Jamie only managed to read some of the guide to being a councilor and barely any of the outdoorsman handbook before tossing it in a suitcase. More days went by until it finally came time to head to camp and after forcing her maid to drag her heavy luggage to her car, she was off on the road out of town and wondered who'd she'd meet when she arrived.
