Anthropology

Jamie rolled up to the parking lot and parked her convertible in an open spot in the middle, a note she had failed to notice earlier was stuck to her glove compartment. "Sweety," it read, "I signed you up for some classes. The information about the classes and where it's at is on some papers in here. Love, Dad." She opened up the compartment and pulled out a couple of papers then got out and walked up to the front doors.

The paper said she would be taking Anthropology first, the study of humankind and cultures and generally involved observing ancient peoples. Her schedule showed that the class would meet four times a week for three or four hours, but throughout semester there were several blank spots where they wouldn't meet for a week or two. Using the map on the wall, Jamie easily found room 271 and took a seat in the front of the class.

She looked around to see eight other students occupying the desks and preparing for class to start. Then a woman walked in the room, she had dark skin and long raven hair tied in a bun; she wore tight dark blue jeans and a organge dress shirt tucked into her pants. The top few buttons on her shirt were unbuttoned to reveal a tight white undershirt hugging her modest cleavage.

"Hello class," she spoke, "I am Dr. Rama and I will be your anthropology professor. In this class we will learn about the cultures of various peoples, mostly more primitave ones that existed long ago. And to better study those we will have to look at the ones anthropologist study today that have remained unchanged by the civilized world. Your schedules will show various blank weeks where we don't meet for usual lectures and labs. Instead we will be going on field trips to different parts of the world to see these peoples live their lives under our observation. Our first trip is in a couple of weeks so pack some gear and meet me here in class that morning at 7:00 to ride a bus to the airport."
