Chapter 34 by simmaster simmaster

What do you choose?

Higher Werewolf

You've gotten this far by using your brain, and you're not going to give that up in favor of strength. With increased leadership you'll probably be able to recruit more and stronger pack members to be your muscles. And one should not underestimate the power of equipment... You choose Higher Werewolf.

A strange sensation fills you... It's not the pain of growing. You're altering, that's for sure, but not so much to be painful. And you can feel your mind change... Knowledge you didn't have flowing into your brain...

When the sensation is gone, you open up your stats to see what exactly that was all about.

Ability Gained!

Ability Gained!
Werewolf Crafting: You can reforge all equipment within your crafting level into customized versions to be used by werewolves.

You're pleased with what you see. Not much change in your stats, except an increased pack capacity and the ability to recruit higher-level pack members. Otherwise the growth choice added just what it said; the ability to create custom armor and transform at will, both of which will be very useful. Human Speech was one you did not account for, but it would probably make things easier. Though what intrigues you the most is Spreader of the Curse. Could this mean that you can now turn heroes into werewolves and recruit them? Because that... That would be insanely powerful.

You spot Ilimia attempting to run away from the camp, and you decide to follow her. You climb down the ladder again, slower this time because the poison is still in your body and your regeneration ability is not really keeping up with it, causing you to feel weakened, but eventually you're at the ground and start running. Again, slower than usual, but nowhere near as slow as Ilimia with all of her armor.

Eventually you catch up with her, and you grab her arm from behind. She screams and you spin her around, grabbing her other arm as well to keep her restrained.

"'Sup," you say in your new English-speaking werewolf voice. You're pleased to hear that it sounds a lot more badass than your human voice, basically your growls and roars put into words.

Ilimia stares at you through her helmet, and you can imagine her eyes filled with fear.

"Say... Why did you stick around for so long?" you ask. "I know you're slow, but not that slow. You must have stayed for a while before running. Why is that?"

"I, I, I..." Ilimia tries, and then starts over. "I was hoping you'd get killed, and I could rush in at the end and deliver some blows myself."

Your lips part in a somewhat sinister grin. "What can I say, I got lucky. Which I guess means you didn't."

"Wha-what the fuck happened to you? You look... different. And you talk!"

"I leveled up. Quite a lot, actually."

As you talk to her, you ponder what to do with her. You two do share XP, which means she got some of the XP from the heroes, so maybe you could kill her to get some more. Or perhaps there are more... profitable options.

What to do with your captive?
