Chapter 12 by Godzilla87 Godzilla87

What is your answer? Do you agree to help?

Ambush!

A roar comes from the darkness behind the heroines as a massive log comes bursting through the trees. Leaves and branches fall to the ground as it crashes through the understory. The log was on a direct line for the knight and for you, you realize.

Too bad for the log, Lydia drew her sword, imbued it with holy fire, and cut the log into splinters with one smooth motion as if she had practiced that move a thousand times.

Six goblins quickly scurried from the trees. Their tiny legs carrying their disproportionate bodies towards the female heroes. Each wielded a wooden club and torn clothes. Their ugly faces were a variety of snarls. They ran directly for The inexperienced priestess, Shana. Instead of casting a fire spell, she tried fending them off with her staff screaming like a maid afraid of mice. Lydia rushed to help her friend.

This is your chance! You start to crawl towards the fire. It will burn your ropes off and heal you at the same time.

Before you get there a hulking behemoth emerges from the trees. The brute who threw the log, no doubt. The beast stands just over seven feet tall. Its only covered by a small loincloth. Scars cover its chiseled torso. Probably woubds from other unfortunate would-heroes. It's a young ogre with arms bigger than Lydia's entire upper body. The beast is carrying a tree trunk in one hand swinging it easily like the goblins with their sticks. Lydia turns in time to see the beast raise the club over its head to strike her down, but Lydia rolled out of the way just as the club smashed to the ground leaving a small crater.

"Cast a fire spell already!" Yelled Lydia at Shana who was still smacking the goblins around doing nothing more than letting them surround her. A single wood goblin isn't much of a threat, but a group is deadly especially when they have their prey surrounded. Even you knew that. Shana starts to chant a spell, but is interrupted every time before she can finish.

You need to get out of here quick. Goblins are notorious monster killers. But the bigger problem was If Lydia started using holy Magic the splash damage alone would kill you. You forget the fire and frantically start crawling away from the fight.

"Where are you going?" Says a husky voice more like a growl than a voice. You look back to see a goblin standing behind you. Damn, One must have gotten past the females. "You look cold friend, let me help you get warm by the fire and you can give me your experience when you burn to ****."

With that the goblin grabs the ropes holding you and throws your tiny frame into the flames. Instantly, you feel stronger as your health rises and the ropes weaken. You snap the ropes off of you by raising your arms and stand spreading your wings.

"Wh-what's going on?" Exclaimed the would-be killer. You must be an impressive sight to the goblin, surrounded by flame with wings spread smoke billowing around you. "Why aren't you burning?"

"Why aren't you running?" You asked the goblin as a smile forms on your face. The goblin is about a head shorter than you with a large gut, small arms, and stubby legs. You notice its nose is crooked making its confused expression all the more comical.

You draw the long knife from behind your back. Your small size makes it seem like a long sword when compared to your body. The goblin's eyes widened and it turned to flee back to its companions still battling the female heroes. Lydia was at a standstill with the ogre, both dodging and parrying attacks from the other. Shana was too busy dodging attacks to chant any words to cast a spell. The battle could end with either party as the victor. You needed to be out of there before then. But not before, this goblin died.

A flap of your wings sends embers around you in a cloud as you leave the ground. The two females are too busy to even notice. You overtake the goblin easily and lift it off the ground. You fly through the trees. Its kicking and flailing makes it difficult to fly through the branches.

"You better stop that or I might drop you," you say, but that was your very intention. It got the goblin to stop though. Soon you clear the canopy and emerge into the night sky. The moon lights the trees and you see A small clearing just south of the battle. Perfect.

"Where are you taking me," demands the goblin.

"Hell," you say just as You get over the clearing and drop the poor goblin. It screams and lands unmoving with a thud loud enough that even at your current height, you can hear. You feel the experience flow into you. It's not enough to level up, but every bit counts.

One or two more goblins should put you at level 8. Or you could attack the females and see if you could deal the finishing blow and steal the experience out from the orge's hard work. There's also the goblin laying in the meadow. You could use your grave robber skill and loot its corpse. Probably nothing, but it might be worth a look.

You are left with a dilemma. Help the heroines fight the monsters? Attack the heroines and hopefully finish them off? Or loot the corpse?

What do you do?
