No war was ever won by throwing your men at the enemy before they even knew how to use their weapons and you didn’t have the numbers to do that anyway, thus you decide to get your mage girl some practical knowledge of fighting and send her to those pesky cowards who call themselves the village militia.

“First on the agenda is a small group of militia from the village who are hunting my brethren without reason over that hill there” you indicate a hill on the other side of the road. “I think you should prevent them from their cruel sport and drive them back into town, they shouldn’t be very powerful as I have seen some of my outcasts beat them so you should have little issue” the woman just shakes her head as her mage companion nods her head enthusiastically. At least she is finally getting into the spirit of things you think to yourself and can see that the woman is of a similar mind.

“That’s just cruel, nobody should hunt people for sport! I’m going to go give them a taste of their own medicine!” Is she serious? Heroes do the very same thing for less reason you think to yourself but neglect to mention this to your new and very impressionable servant.

“Indeed it is, but thankfully they are almost as incompetent as the outcasts they hunt, they should prove little challenge to you but will none the less, give us an advantage” you grin at the irony of using heroes to kill the people that heroes normally help.

“Come on Karla, we should ‘urry up and get this done so we can continue . . . I ‘ave a feeling we’re gonna be ‘ere a while” said the woman as she turned in the direction of the hunters.

“Right, we need to stop that militia from hurting the poor outcasts!” is this girl seriously that gullible? “Oh, before that . . . what kind of quest is this?” Karla was showing off how new she was to this whole affair once again.

“This is a ‘conquest’ quest, we gotta do a bunch of stuff around the place so that the guys we are ‘elpin’ can get one up on the guys they are fightin’” when not screaming, the other woman spoke in a very slang form of the common language you are used to and is almost incomprehensible to you but you manage to get the gist of everything she is saying. “That bein’ said, the boss of these quests usually gets a lill stronger as we go on to match the strength of ‘is troops so no doubt he’s gonna be stronger the next time we meet” Did she only just now start that accent up or was it there the whole time? You think to yourself as you remember the rest of your conversation with the two.

“Right! Let’s go and defeat those hunters!” Karla again being enthusiastic as she bounds off in the wrong direction

“Hey idiot! The guys are this way!” the woman called after her companion who stopped mid stride, turned on her heel and started bounding in the correct direction with the woman going after her.

Those two are quite the miss matched pair . . . I wonder what I will be able to use them for in the future you entertain thoughts of ‘using’ them in ways that befits their womanly bodies but first you must see to your more immediate concerns in the village you have set about to conquer. First up, you decide that it would be in your best interests to acquire weapons at some point in time and you can’t think of a better place to easily get something crude that your outcasts can use than at the wood cutter’s camp in the woods almost below the horizon from where you stand atop the rolling hillside around the village. On a whim, you take a good long look around you to really take in the land. To your right is the village you are attempting to conquer, it’s thatched rooves are set onto wooden houses that are partially concealed by the palisade wall that is open only to a cobbled road with several mail armed NPC guards leaning on their spears guarding the entrance. Past the village and jutting out of the horizon like teeth was the forest that provided the villagers’ wood, staffed by a couple dozen burly lumberjacks, the place was undefended by the village guards but well defended by the jacks themselves who possess the strength to wield their numerous axes, hack saws and bill hooks with some measure of skill. Hugging the road was the rolling countryside that looked like it was a green desert with hills being the dunes rolling onto the road, your brethren were scattered about these hills in groups of threes and fours while several small plots of farmland stuck out like beacons in a sea of orcs.

You call up one of the nearby outcasts and have him run to several of the groups nearest to the forest and tell them to attack the lumberjack camp and not stop until they win. You hope that the ability to respawn will outweigh the fact that they could be killed in one or two hits. You are quite surprised by the fact that the outcast just followed your orders without a word and wonder if you could have done that ages ago. As you watch the runner go about your orders, you notice an increase in the number of outcasts slowly trickling in, whereas before you had groups of three and four, now you were seeing five and six around you. You even noticed a group of about seven orcs surrounding you, just milling about as they wait for your orders and you suddenly realise the orc you had just called up was one of those orcs. Those heroes must have killed the villagers and that must be why . . . that woman did mention I would gain strength as they complete tasks you muse on this some more while you wait for the return of your hero minions.

It was not long before they arrive, in fact it was not long since they left, you feel as though it were only a good half an hour at most but probably less.

“We’re back, and we killed the stupid villagers, you were right when you said they’d be no challenge” the woman spoke first as she gingerly stepped around the small squad now gather about you, glaring at the two heroines.

“You look bigger! And more greenish!” karla blurted out what was on her mind, forcing you to notice that indeed, you were a pale shade of green now and a half head taller than the other outcasts. I didn’t even notice . . . I was expecting dings like the heroes get if I leveled up, not just things happening without warning You opt to look at your stat sheet in order to get to the bottom of this little change in circumstance.

Well now, this is something new you marvel at your new and very much improved stats, you also marvel at the lack of help texts, maybe the sheet decided you were no longer stupid enough to need them for everything. Last on your list of marvels was the ability to seemingly command thirty outcasts at once, that was going to come in handy.

Now that you are caught up on where you are and what you have gained from that minor exercise, it is time to determine what to have your heroes do next, and what to do yourself now that you had the ability to do something. You could send the two heroes to the woodcutters camp to ensure that there is a swift victory there but that would mean sending them away quite far, should another hero come, you doubt you could best them even with thirty orcs and your new strength. You could also send the heroes to gather those thirty orcs you can now command and increase your little honour guard, that would keep the two girls close at hand and provide you some more meat to use in your **** while you wait for your orcs in the forest to do their thing. There is also the idea of having them attack the town now, especially since Karla would have gained a level or two but you are still unsure if that would be a wise action at this time, the guards CAN one hit your outcasts and would do significant damage to you even now while you would barely shave some HP off the top especially in that armour of theirs.
