"Hey! Something Killed Belinda!"

"Hey! Something under that bush killed Belinda!" One of the other adventurers shouts, and comes after you. The others are higher level than she was, this will not be half so easy.

You crawl to the other side of the bush and look around for advantage, while hopping against hope that the idiot that comes for you is the big burly fighter type who was wounded, probably from facing off with the imps earlier in the forest.

There, under another bush! The halfling seems to have drooped a Daimondine Star-Knife, which is sticking with one blade angled up: an improvised trap! (and where she got that knife is an even bigger mystery than the shield, neither are applicable to her class and Daimondine weapons are WAY above the type she even meets the level requirements for, though you have no idea how you know that, just one of the many factoids that entered your head when you became sapient.

You move as fast as you can out from under the bush and over to the other one, nearly being struck by an arrow, and you are in luck! The Adventurer that comes after you IS the wounded fighter, diving for you just like his companion did, and getting stabbed in the neck by the Star-Knife!

~3HP, If everything goes EXACTLY right...!~ You think as you bite him on the hand. He has griped you with one hand but missed restraining your all important head!

Your fangs sink in and the venom injects, and you are ecstatic to see the red number '2' flash up from your bite, then an acid green '1', even as his other hand comes to close on your neck, but never makes it, his corpse flopping limp, releasing you, and then going stiff and gray, spraying more treasure.

You crawl swiftly under the shield Belinda dropped and hide there while the others react with shock. Even as you feel the surge of XP from defeating a 5th level character plus the added surge a second later of the 'Giant Killer' bonus for taking out a creature more than triple your level. There is a small * Ding! * then but you pay it no mind, you are expecting to be killed any second, and no matter how many level's you just gained it won't make up for the difference in power with the party leader who is 10th level, you CAN'T have leveled up THAT much from killing a 5th level character, that is until you see another evolution screen pop up:
