Sweet, you got a spell! It doesn't do any direct damage, but with the way you handled that gnoll, that shouldn't be a problem. You make your way home with a spring in your wings.

You arrive to find your village menaced by goblins, as the quest goes.

"Holly!" The elder calls to you as you approach, "Were you unable to convince the hero this time as well?"

"Don't worry," you comfort the old man, "I'll go talk to them and see if they'll leave us alone. It's not as if they need to put on a show for a hero that doesn't come." The elder doesn't like the idea, but you're already approaching the monsters.

The goblins laze about at the outskirts of town. They notice you, but in the absence of a hero, they feel no need to assume combat stance. "Hey, Hol, no luck today either?"

You **** a smile, "No hero today; would it be possible for you to leave without incident, since the quest is being ignored?"

The talking goblin sighs with a shrug, "Sorry, Hol, gotta follow the quest. It's in the rules."

Alright, you're not that polite, "Could you please stop calling me that? You're not my friends; you kill my friends every day!"

The goblin sighs, "Okay, Holly, keep that stick up your butt. Are you ready for the attack now?"

"No," You huff, "I'm tired to you two coming in here wrecking the place just because heroes don't care, so from now on, I'm a hero!"

"Holly," the goblin groaned.

"Dude, just let her try," The second goblin speaks for the first time. "She'll lose in like two seconds and the we can finish up here."

"Hold on, Grub, you do know what happens to heroes who fall in battle, right?"

"They respawn back at town? Huh, Holly does that too; maybe she is a hero!" Grub chuckles to himself. You'd stamp your foot if you weren't flying!

"No, remember those rumors going around? The ones about weak monsters getting a few levels and wrecking the heroes?"

"Oh yeah, real inspiration, those guys."

"Does this have a point? You're roundabout story's really boring!" You snort just to make sure they remember you're here.

"Sorry, I'm not a bard. Thing is, those guy all have something in common: they all end up taking a hero hostage."

You can't help but shrink a little at the implication, "If you're trying to make me back down, it's not going to work!" You try to be threatening, but your pouting face is to adorable to intimidate.

Grub laughs outright, "Now I really think we should let her try! My own tiny hero, for the long nights."

"We're partners, Grub. Obviously, we would share her."

You ball up your fists and throw them down, "Maybe I'll catch you instead! I'd like to see what the village has in store for you after all you've done!" You've had enough of their mocking! You let them have the dust, your wings beat the powder towards the goblins.

Now they're both laughing, the first manages to speak after a bit, "Alright, Hol, just to make sure okay with how this all turns out, you can have the first hit."

Grub gasps, "Whoa, are you sure? I mean, she might do some damage! Like a point or even two!"

The goblins fall to the ground in laughter while you fume in rage. "I can have the first hit? Are you sure?" You dive-bomb the ground between the two, shaking the whole town and launching the goblins a foot into the air. "Like you said, I might do some damage!"

Nobody's laughing now. All the village comes out to see where that tremor came from. The goblins shake with fear and hyperventilate.

"Okay, we get it. We'll get in trouble, but we'll go now. None of you fairies die, like you wanted."

"What about all that stuff about hostages. I was really looking forward to it."

"Hey, come on, Hol-ly. We weren't gonna do any of that stuff. We were looking out for you; so you wouldn't say stuff like that to the wrong sort. Get it? We were being friendly."

"I already told you, you are not my friends."

Whether it's from the dust or the fright, the goblins pass out.

What do you do with them?
