Chapter 21 by Cantalope Cantalope

Who does she encounter?

A whole town.

With momentous excitement you reach the border...and walk right through it. There's an odd sense of disappointment at the lack of reaction, possibly a remnant of your birth-mothers desire for achievements. Regardless, you're breathing the free air now. No going back. Just the way you wanted. The elders had been somewhat dismissive of you, like you were a creation to serve them. You knew the truth: you were better then any of them. An evolution of spider-kind. You'd ignored their superior attitude, let them live in delusion. Now that you were free in the world, You were the future of spider-kind.

You scuttle along the road for almost an hour, beginning to appreciate why heroes often rode mounts between destinations, when a faint light appears in the far distance. As you approach you realize it is a large village, perhaps even a small town, spread out across the plain. You slow and keep to the shadows as figures come into render-distance. The first you see are a smattering of guardsmen, tired and ill-equipped. You look forward to overwhelming them with your clutch one day...though you aren't sure this planes town is what you're looking for. Not for a permanent base anyway.

You easily slip over the shoddily constructed wood wall, taking care to avoid the weathered spikes atop it, and slip onto a rooftop to survey the populace. Hm...there are a decent number of females in the town. Perhaps the men are all out on guard duty. Most of the town is human but you find what appears to be a half-elf quarter. Curious that the humanoid races divide themselves so conveniently for conquering. You'd be sure to take advantage, should the opportunity arise.

With the moon high in the sky you rest atop a steeple, considering your options:
• You'd seen a trio of human women, similar in appearance, sleeping in one room near the entrance to town. If you could subdue them all you'd have a splendid start for your broodmothers, though it would certainly be an issue of quantity over quality. They appeared to be filler NPC's and were unlikely to bring any beneficial traits to your brood. Though for some reason the prospect of enslaving sisters appealed to you in a very un-invertebrate way...
• While passing through the half-elf quarter you'd come across a lovely surprise at an open window: a beautiful elf, long blonde hair spilling over her back as she undressed. Your abilities informed you she was a level 11 Mesmer, pure elf, and staying with a half relative as she passed through the area. Due to her untainted bloodline she wasn't curvy enough to meet the elders qualification of a good breeder...but the same lithe quality was what enticed you to begin with. It might take a little more time and effort but at such a high level she would surely breed strong offspring, bestowing elvish traits upon them that you were intensely curious to discover...not to mention the hypnotic magics of her class.
• Finally, while you were climbing this very steeple, you'd peered into a church window. Inside you spied priests going about their business...and many more nuns going about theirs. It would feel good to subvert a holy congregation, serving the same gods who had made you languish for so long, not to mention it would give you excellent access to the rest of the town...but those very reasons also worked against you. Maybe if you started slow? Who'd notice if a couple nuns went missing?

Hss.....The church seemed like an overextension, considering you'd need to have some skill in subverting others to your cause to make it feasible. You knew it was possible, the elders had talked of a mutant weed-fiend who had enslaved your brood-mother...but such things were beyond you as of yet and you seriously doubted you could gain such an ability through leveling...but your birth mother was a heroine: perhaps you could find and learn some spells to aid you? It might work...in theory. The prospect was an exciting one but you had only just arrived in the open world. It might be safer to start small and work your way up.

Choices, choices...
