Chapter 5 by madmage madmage

How big is the party that enters?

Party of Four

You take notes as the heroes stop just inside the swamp. First was some kind of fighter, judging by the twin swords strapped to his back. You guessed by the way he kept hitching his shoulder that he was used to heavier armor, but had traded the protection of metal for the extra agility of hardened leather for his foray into the swamp. Next up was a male healer, an obvious elf clad in heavy robes, held up a staff with a glowing orb on the end. He would be the best protected of the group, not only as the healer but as the party’s light source. The last two members of the party were women.
A priestess of some kind, wearing what you suppose is technically a robe. Though, with the way it plunged between her massive breasts and clung to her wide hips, you could certainly see the appeal. Cautiously creeping closer you could see a pendant nestling at the top of her cleavage that identified her as a follower of Remas, the Storm Shepard. That meant she could throw around lightning if it came to a fight, certainly useful in a swamp where most monsters crept through water.
Finally, there was a halfling carrying a bizarre crossbow. Even at this distance you could make out her bright pink lips and long blonde ponytail. You didn’t even know that they made blonde halflings. And her tight leather armor was opened even further down than the priestess’s robe. What was up with that.
“Thanks again for buying this crossbow for me, Maxwell.” the halfling said, “I wouldn’t have been much help otherwise at my level.” So the halfling was low level, that was good to know. The crossbow must pack a punch though.
“Don’t mention it,” the fighter, Maxwell replied, ”Besides if all goes well you should be up a few levels in no time.”
“I still say you should have let me negotiate a discount.”
“You’re a sharpshooter, not a thief,” the priestess pointed out, “What kind of discount could you possibly have gotten?”
“The best kind,” the halfling winked, suggestively tracing her lips.
“You’re such a slut.”
“Says the whore with tits the size of my head.”
“Like thats much of an accomplishment.”
“If we could please focus.” The healer interrupted the catfight, spoilsport. “Griever’s Swamp is no spring meadow. If you wish to survive long enough to complete the quest, I suggest you be more cautious.”
“Eboth’s right,” Maxwell said. “Stay inside the light. There are plenty of monsters in this swamp, and it doesn’t help that it’s always dark. Nothing can see in this place.” Not true, you could see just fine. For example, you could see the way Lady Tits inhaled whenever Maxwell glanced at her chest. And what kind of name is Eboth? “So stick together and don’t wander.”
“Hey, do you guys smell that?” The halfling asked. “That kind of sweet, kinda sexy smell?”
“I don’t smell anything.” Eboth said curtly, “Lets go.”
In the darkness, you blushed at the halfling’s unintentional compliment. It was nice to hear someone appreciated your new perfume.

As you tailed the heroes, it was clear that the halfling was sensitive to scent based abilities. She kept looking around and sniffing. You also spotted her rubbing herself when the rest of her party wasn’t looking. The elf clearly had a stick up his ass, while the priestess kept subtly flirting with the fighter.
Your first chance to see their combat abilities when they stumbled across a swamp rat nest. They might not have even spotted it if one hadn’t dashed out and bit the halfling. It wasn’t much of a fight after that. The priestess blew the nest apart with a lightning bolt, frying most of the rats. The rats rallied only to be held off by the fighters swords, while the halfling’s crossbow proved its worth. The bow proved to be some kind of repeater, the sharpshooter snapping off several shots before having to reload.
“Alright, Eboth check out Telma,” Maxwell nodded at the halfling, “She’s most likely poisoned. Then we should take a short rest before seeing if there’s anything left in that nest.”
It was a perfect setup. For the first time the group was spread out and not paying attention to each other. If you played it right you should be able to lure one of them from the group and take them down before the others noticed.

Who to pick off?
