Chapter 31 by daciasdesire daciasdesire

I hope I keep my bad habits to myself...

Meeting her nuns.

Yui shows me into a small conference hall that wouldn’t look out of place in a high-class hotel or function centre if it wasn’t filled with about 25 per cent nuns. The rooms slowly filling up as everyone makes their way inside. Yui starts introducing me to some of the people she works with. Various different departments heads which make me guess that Yui must be in charge of the school’s entire science department and not just a teacher.

Once we have said our greetings to all of the people immediately around us, Yui quickly ducks off to get us something to drink. The event a sundowner with canapes and a fully stocked bar. I’m briefly without anyone to talk to when an older nun comes shuffling slowly towards me. Her back hunched over with age but her eyes very much alive with energy. Most remarkable and something I never expected to see in a Holy Sister is two facial tattoos. A burst of stars above her right eyebrow and a trio of teardrops under her left eye. Now faded with age, the Nun must have got them before she enters the Holy Order.

“Well, well, young man. Who are you here with today?” the sister asks in a very affable and friendly old voice.

“Miss Yui, Ma’am,” I say hoping I’m being polite enough.

“Oh, Miss Yui! Such a pretty young thing I’m surprised you can keep off each other long enough to make it here tonight,” she says shocking me.

“Ahh… Miss Yui and I are taking our time to… get to know each other on a deeper level before anything… physical happens,” I gulp back the most awkward and incoherent response of my life.

“Oh, nonsense! I bet you ride that little Asian puss of hers until it points sideways. I wasn’t always a nun you know.”

Thankfully I have divine intervention in the form of Yui returning to prevent this conversation going any further.

Handing me a glass of champagne as she slips her arm around my back, Yui says, “Mother Superior, I see you have met my boyfriend.”

“Indeed, I have. Told me all about the nasty sex you two have been having. Fornicators!” the Mother Superior curses.

“Honestly Honey! I didn’t tell her at all about the sex we’ve had!” I try and defend myself against her.

“No, but you just did,” Yui says as she and the older nun burst out laughing.

“Told you I’d break him,” The Nun laughs

“How long did it take you?” Yui asks.

“How long did it take you to get that drink? I had you both marked the second you entered the quad. So that means you’ll do it? A bet’s a bet.”

“You win Mother. I’ll do it,” Yui says with a big grin at the crafty old Nun.

“I’m Mother Superior Constance by the way. Lovely to met you. Sorry, I had to play a little dirty with you there,” the nun extends out her hand to shake mine as I’m trying to get a handle on what private joke is passing been the tow of them.

“A pleasure, I think,” I say shaking back, “what is it Yui has to do?”

“You’ll see a little bit later tonight. Too many ears around at the moment,” Mother Constance tells me cryptically before she continues her round of the room.

When she’s gone, I ask Yui what the hell that was all about.

Giving me a kiss on the lips to make sure my feeling isn’t hurt Yui explains, “The Mother Superior wants me to take up a position next year that I wasn’t at all sure about.”

“And what’s that got to do with us sleeping together?”

“Nothing. We just thought it would be fun to have a little game with you. Was it good nun, bad nun?” Yui asks.

“More like crazy nun,” I say which makes Yui smile.

“She already knew we’d slept together. I told her after the first night. Do you know it’s rumoured she used to be undercover for the CIA?” Yui says as she leans in very close to gossip about the head of her school.

“After that interrogation, I’d believe it.”

The sundowner continues without further incident and I am able to eventually relax after another glass of wine or two. Yui’s fellow teachers and all the Sisters being genuinely happy to see her here with someone. The outcome of Yui and Mother Superior’s wager not mentioned again until the elderly lady makes her way to a small stage erected at the end of the room to make a speech. I can’t help noticing that her back is much straighter and she has no trouble in the slightest jumping up the flight of stairs to the stage.

What has Constance got to say?
