“Uhm no.” you say through your blush.

The widowmother recoils as if she’d been stabbed. “Whaaat?” She seems to pout as her shoulders droop. “Gahhh I’m gonna die alone, I know it!” she says furiously rubbing at her head with both hands. Both her composure and seductive attitude have seemed to completely go out the window with your rejection.

Wait hold on, she might try n’ eat me if I’m not careful here.

“I-I wouldnae go that far lass…” you say trying to console her.

“Admit it! You think I’m ugly or something. Why else would you deny me so rudely like that!”

“Uhhh, it’s not you it’s me. Genuinely, I’m not ready fer motherhood ya know?”

She turns around, trying to hide her crying face from you. She seems to sort through her thoughts as you speak again.

“I can’t mother yer children but I can be yer friend.” Your pitch goes high towards the end of the sentence as you wince in anticipation.

“You’d… be my… friend?” she says between sniffles.

“Er yeah. We could do girl stuff like um… gardenin’ and music playin’ and cookin’?”

As if turning on a switch, the widowmother turns around happy once more, wiping away her tears.

“Friends yeah! I guess I should introduce myself. I am Katya!” she shakes your hand through the webbing.

“Iyda, good to meet ya.” You say trying your best to return the webbed handshake.

“Let me help you down! Sorry about all this honestly.” Katya’s dark face turns a shade of red as if embarrassed.

“Aye it’s alright. I kind o’ thought you’d just forcibly breed me anyways after what ya said.”

Katya recoils as she hears this. “**** you? What am I an orc? I’d never do something like that without consent. Not a good look, you know?” You nod in reply as you drop down out of the web. Collecting your stuff, you redress before looking to the road through the trees. Katya seems intent on coming with you, and not wanting to piss off a giant spider lady, you concede and let her follow along.
