Let him go

You take a deep breath to collect yourself as you speak again.

“It’s fine. Just go.”

In an act of mercy, you release him from his restraints, allowing him to have his gear back. You make sure to grab the things he stole from your camp before releasing him.

“That all?” he asks while gathering his things.

“Yea just go before I change me mind.”

“Oh-alright.” He seems unsure what to say, so he doesn’t say anything. He stumbles off back into the forest.

I dunno if I should’ve let him go. He can come back at any point in the night and… Best not think about it actually. I’m going to try and sleep lightly and get out of here as soon as possible in the morning.

You inspect your surroundings and he seems to be gone. Anxiously you change into your nightwear and settle down for the night, keeping your weapon close by.
