Chapter 5 by HiBeGi HiBeGi

Which girl from the Super Villain club do you meet?

Jem: Just the humble financer

A rather influential member within the Villainous Vixens, Jem is in charge of funding all operations that the group of supervillains conducts. While very much capable of fighting, Jem tends to shy away from combat, instead letting the rest of the team butthead with the enemy while she stays unseen and unheard with the money. Being born into the family of a powerful crime boss, Jem was the runt of her many siblings and cousins. Often considered a disappointment by her father, who would compare her to her much more obedient and hot-headed brothers, Jem was pushed away, still having to work for the criminal organization with a much lower role compared to those that shared her blood. The thing was, despite not being as assertive as the rest of the hotshots at the top, Jem still had the very same ambitions as them. She was a schemer who found that the petty rivalries, the pride and stubbornness, the toxic masculinity that lied at the core of the organization were holding it back from having the wide-spread influence that she dreamed of. It was because she had spoken her mind that she was **** to work these dirty jobs, and it was because they were hell on Earth, where any second, any misstep she could've ended up dead, is what caused a power to awaken within her. Due to her will and ambition, Jem manifested a powerful ability that allowed her to take over the organization. The ability to manipulate memories. There are limitations to her power; from a distance, using only eye contact, Jem can erase the ten most recent seconds of memory in a person's mind. Though that may not seem like much, ten seconds is a lot of time to lose. In a fight, not knowing what you are doing causes hesitation, and hesitation costs everything in a battle. When guarding something, it's important to stay constantly alert. It's a tad bit difficult to be vigilant when you can't even recall your previous train of thought. In conversation, you can find yourself repeating the same points over and over again, and whomever you were arguing with will eventually find a weak point in their defense once they've heard it enough times. But the memory erasure is a party trick compared to when Jem gets her hands on someone. At a close range, with just mere skin contact, Jem can rewrite someone's memories. At that point, you're at her complete mercy as she subjugates your will, erasing everything that makes you who you are. She can implant false memories into your current one, forcibly suppress details, or just outright give you an entire different life to recall. It was by using this power that she rose to the top, taking the reigns out of her father's hands by ****. Though she found those who had been running the organization to be rather useless, she reduced them to nothing more than a bunch of primal beasts that, on her command, would charge forward devil may care of the danger ahead. No longer was her relationship with her family that of "son," "brother," cousin, "nephew," or "uncle," but instead that of master and hounds. Soon afterward, she'd come in contact with the Villainous Vixens, and she'd agree to fund them under the circumstance that their activities could be useful in providing a profit of their own.

Standing at 171 cm (5'7) tall and weighing 61 kg (134 lbs), Jem is a decently attractive woman of Sicilian heritage. With lightly tanned skin, medium-length brown hair, and these once brilliantly blue eyes, Jem makes sure she fits the image of someone deserving to be on top. Wearing a number of three-piece suits, Jem's personal favourite is comprised of a marron gambler's hat with white feathers coming out the back of it like a swan's tail, a white and black tiger-printed jacket that comes with a red fur collar, a purple waist coat with a pin of her crime family's insignia over her left breast, a pair of gold, beetle-shaped cufflinks, a light blue dress shirt, a maroon bow tie with purple stripes, a pair of purple dress pants with a rose pattern decorating the thigh region, and plain black dress shoes with black and white checkered socks underneath. For jewellery, she wears her father's wedding ring (he won't be needing it anymore) on her left middle finger, a silver diamond-crested ring on the index finger of the same hand, and a silver threader earring on her right ear. There are rather prominent surgery scars going across her chest and waist, additionally she has a bullet wound scar on her right shoulder. There is also a birth mark on the big toe of her left foot. Jem isn't particularly curvaceous but she does have medium size breasts. Upon awakening her powers, Jem's eyes became fogged up, losing almost all their colour to them, making them appear as if they're grey and lifeless.

Despite not being the leader of the Villainous Vixens, Jem is kind of the one running things, just doing so in the background, unlike her eccentric leader. Because of this, Jem has the ability to recruit members of the organization without counseling anyone. Due to her dislike of conflict, she often avoids staying out of the spotlight, though this doesn't mean things can't be traced back to her. While she can handle herself if things are difficult, on the off chance that she finds herself cornered, Jem will bring out her trump card, negotiations. A businesswoman at heart (Just as evil, but perhaps a little more violent and cruel than the average businessman), Jem is not afraid of making a deal if things aren't going her way. Everyone has their price, after all. Jem has taken an interest in certain individuals at the school. Students like Joyce and members of the Tranquility of the Extinct caught her interest due to their ties with taking down criminal organizations along with their strength. Joyce in particular, due to having contacts with certain higher-ups of W.I.T.C.H. Among the ToE, Jem regularly has chess matches with Oskar Blecha, with whom she has a weird hostile sexual tension due to both of them being schemers and her powers being ineffective against him. Sadly, though, she believes that getting the jump on them wouldn't be possible; they're a bit too sharp for her to get a hold of. Though it did inspire her to take a look into people out there in the world similar to them. While the League of Liberty isn't too focused on her in particular, she still finds them to be quite a nuisance given how much they intervene in their affairs.

Those that Jem's powers are ineffective on:
Upsilon, D, Dorothy Cherry - These three, while completely different women, all have the same factor determining as to why Jem's memory manipulation is useless on them. They don't have brains. While memories are etched into the soul, Jem specifically targets the brain's ability to remember things. Meaning her powers have no effect on a robot, an evil spirit, or the physical manifestation of someone's soul. (D is also so simple minded in her existence that memory erasure might be pointless since all she does is crave ****)
Han Chengxuan - While her powers do actually work on his, his body almost seems to have a mind of its own. It's almost as if he's able to fight without having to think. Muscle memory is a pain in the ass to remove, and it would appear that anything that he analyzes ends up being etched into it. It's impossible to surprise him with a ten-second erasure of memory; she'd need to do a full rewrite of them to be effective, but he's a bit too slippery to be touched.
Mónica - Mónica Carmen Cabrera-Villanueva's memory is so horrendous that Jem's powers are completely useless against her due to them having literally no effect on how her brain currently operates. In fact, she's probably worse off than someone who is constantly getting their mind wiped by Jem. In some weird in-verse effect, Mónica will forget about Jem erasing her memory, causing her to actually remember the removed memories before forgetting them naturally.
Hateya - Doing anything with Hateya's mind is a guarantee to leave you in vegetative state. Don't try it.
Shubthula and Moony - It's not that they lack brains per se; it's more the fact that their existences are far too abstract to mess with their memories.
Oskar Blecha - Once again, while her power does work on him, it is rather ineffective due to his ability to read the future. Erasing a ten-second interval of memory is a rather futile tactic against someone who already knows what'll happen ahead. While Oskar isn't constantly viewing the future and typically only sees a few second intervals, the intervals are big enough to make Jem's power almost pointless against him. Additionally, this man is a full-blown psychopath and wouldn't hesitate in the slightest even if he did have memories erased in a fight; he's almost as slippery as Han, but without the playfulness of the martial artist, attempting to make contact with him in order to rewrite memories would likely result in the loss of a hand, meaning that it wouldn't be a worthwhile effort to engage Oskar in anything besides conversation (or a game of chess, even if the odds of victory are insurmountable, there's no point in not trying if there aren't any drastic consequences. Triumph only exists for those willing to reach out and take hold of it.)

What is your relationship with crime boss?
