Jamie hops back to the beach

Jamie had no idea if anyone came to this grove of trees for any reason. She could lay here for a long time, waiting for rescue. She spent some time trying to get her bonds loose, finally gave up, frustrated at her lack of success.

She didn't want to wait to be found because she wasn't certain that would happen. She couldn't get free. That left only one option.

It took Jamie a long time to get to her feet. Tightly bound as she was, the simple act of standing up was much harder, requiring more thought and effort, but finally, she was standing.

Mentally retracing her steps, Jamie began the long, slow process of hopping back to the beach where she could get some help. It hadn't taken her long to run here, but since she could only move a few inches at a time, she knew it was going to take her much of the day to reach help. Resigning herself to a long effort, Jamie bent her knees slightly and began hopping.

As she hopped, the spirit assigned to mess with her, which had sent the men in the first place, thought about its next move. It could use its powers to prevent anyone from seeing or hearing Jamie, or it could let people see her and go to help her, but be unable to untie her or ungag her.

It watched her hop slowly, laboriously, in the direction of the beach, a few agonizingly slow inches at at time, and thought about what it was going to do.
